Default Axial Deadbolt

Hi Guys
Just joined the forum. I am from New Zealand and run a Axial Deadbolt at our club. Just recently I put on some 2.2 Beadlocks with Trepidor tyres. and internal weights. The only trouble is I was doing some crawling over tree branches etc and some smoke come out of the motor. Not a good look and of course it does not run now. I am going to replace the motor but hope someone can advise on good gear ratios to run? Hope someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks.
Ray

This is the SCX Deadbolt?

I forget what the stock pinion is... I think 12 or 13T? I'd try like a 10T pinion. What motor are you going to put in it, another Axial 27T?

5.6 to 1 gear ratio seems to be best for crawling.

Thanks for the replies guys. Have just brought Axial 2900kv brushless motor (Vangaurd) with the AE-3 Vangaurd ESC. I just need to work out the gearing for it. I have also just got the Futaba 4PLS Radio. Will set that up in a couple of weeks and get back in to the fun. The 27t is still going but a bit smelly.I was using a 13t pinion 56t spur (32). This is a good sight from what I have seen so far. Cheers.

With that electronics I'd suggest a smaller pinion (11T) and possibly a larger spur wheel as well.
Do expect heavy cogging from this two-pole motor with no sensor. Slow crawling might be difficult.
