| to much torque??? good or bad???
i'm thinking about upgrading my 2.2 tlt crawler to brushless. right now money is not to big of an issue because i work at a hobby shop and i get pretty good deals on stuff. i told my boss not to even give me a pay check because it will just go right back to him. the problem i'm having is, can it have to much power "torque" for the truck and for crawling? i am thinking about using a hacker A30-12L http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/190270.asp and using a momba max ESC. i know that the stock difs wont be able to handle it so i'm planning to buy the "TracGear Spool Locker from rc4wd." please tell me what you think? thanks |

Personally, I don't think there is such a thing as "too much" torque. Even if you have more than necessary, as long as you know how to use it you should be okay. If you have good throttle control and don't "floor it" when the rig is bound up, you should be fine. You could always run a slipper clutch if you are a little heavy handed with the throttle, just in case.

As the proud owner of 6 brushless systems, I won't say there is any such thing as too much torque. |

Seems expensive to me. For that kinda money, get one from www.holmeshobbies.com and he will even turn the shaft down for you... That one you linked also seems to be touch slower than what you'd want, but you'd probably be able to just gear up a few teeth to gain some wheelspeed if needed.

X2 on Holmes Hobbies. John will set you up with a great set up thats great for crawling. Great guy to deal with. The Hyperion motors he sells are IMHO,top notch. VERY high quality motors.
