Default hitec 5955 need programer?

I was thinking of using hitec 5955 servos in my 1st project because they seem tobe what most use. My question is can I use these with my Traxxas radio and reciever? On Tower's website it says you need a programmer to use this servo. Can someone help a newbie out here? Any info is welcomed

The 5955 comes with 90 degrees of rotation. The 5995 comes with 180 degrees of rotation. The 5995 "needs" a programmer, or a radio with endpoint adjustment. You dont need no stinkin programmer, just a careful eye with either to make sure you are not locking your steering out before the servo is done moving. That will kill it or break shat.

So does that mean I can use my Traxxas radio and reciever with the 5955 servos but just make sure the servo does not overcontrol and have more movement past the steering stop? I assume I can do that by playing with the steering links and control arms.

Yeah, that is what he is saying.

If the servo keeps trying to push/pull once your steering is at it's mechanical limit, it will die quickly.

You'll have to play with steering link length and servo horn length to get it perfect.

that servo is fine. Use a short servo horn to reduce your throw AND increase the torque of the servo at the arm. Just make sure it isnt bottoming out at the ends and stressing the servo or your knuckles.

The REAL fix would be a radio with EPA, so you can run the servos you want and just adjust them to do what you want.
