| modding radio for ground use
Has anyone here done the mod to change a radio from air frequency to ground use themself Any help would be great Leddpipe |

I'm not sure you can do it yourself, it requires changing more than the crystals as they are on a completely different frequency range.

Well i thought there were some electronic guys around here that might have tried. Ive built radios from scratch just not in the rc world and was thinking about giving it a whirl. |

I spent 8 years in the Army doing Secure Communications Repair, taught various electronics courses, taught the Secure commo guys at Ft. Gordon, lots of crap. If I need my TX converted from 72 to 75Mhz I'm sending it back to the manufacturer. I have an old Futaba T6XA here that I plan to send back. To me it's not worth the time and effort when I could spend a few dollars and have someone else do it...and still have it covered under warranty. The factory techs will convert the TX and RX (or replace the RX) and tune the TX for peak performance. |

so they will convert any radio to ground frequency? how much do they charge for this? shame you cant just special order a system allready converted.
