Default TQ3 - 3rd channel?

My nephew wants me to mod a 1/4 scale servo to use as a winch and I had a quick question. Last night I hooked the servo up to the 3rd chan. on TQ3 on his truck to test it. It works like it should for 4WS. Switch up-servo turns one direc., switch down-servo turns other direc. switch centered- servo centers. When I hooked my servo up to it that has been modded for a winch (pot glued in center position). With switch up-servo(winch) turns one direc. With switch centered- servo turns same direc. With switch down- servo turns other direc. In other words, The servo will turn both ways but does not have an off position. I thought that maybe switch centered would be off. I realize that it won't work like that but is there a way to get it to? On my JR 3 channel Tx. The servo will only turn one direc. Because my 3rd chan. is just like an on-off switch. It doesn't reverse the polarity, which is fine with me. I just wanted to know if I can get it to work with his TQ3 and have in-off-out feature? Thanks.

Sounds like you don't actually have the pot in the centered position.

My nephew said it may not be centered either. I let the CA dry before reassembling servo. It was still centered when I put it back together. The motor wasn't turning either direc. when I checked it.I may have to dig a little deeper to find out what's up. Maybe put an external pot on it to make sure it's staying in the center position. Thanks Jason and Gula.

Have you tried adjusting the trim on the third channel to center it?
