Default Newbie question about charging new batteries

I have a question about my new charger and battery that I bought. In the insturctions it says that a NiMH battery should not be DEEP CYCLED. What does that mean exactly? Please help. Should i slow charge that battery for 15 hours like I have read?

Thank you,

Pineaple

deep cycled refers to draining the battery until the voltage is close to zero. it can reverse the polarity of cells.

you can charge your packs fairly fast, depending on the cell type and capacity of the cell (milliamp hours). if they are your tipical big 6 cell pack you can charge them at 5 amps for a quick charge or less amps for a slow one, unless they are really old.

what kind of batteries are they?
