Unhappy Help with servo problem

I'm just getting my crawler finshed then a problem. Ok hear are all the parts that I have. Tekin Rebel 2, (2) Hitec HSR-5995TG servos, Spektrum Dx6 radio (2) 75 turn axiom motors, 2500mah 11.1v tithium polymer battery hooked to the tekin rebel 2 and a 1250mah 7.4v tithium polymer battery for the servos. I toke out the red wire that was going to the receiver from both servos. I taped into the black wire from both servos then hooked the red and black wire to the 7.4v battery. The servos work but get really hot. I burned one servo out allready:-(I set the throw of each servo but this doesn't help. Anybody got any ideas.

Maybe too many volts to the servos?

I'm going to go with the above guess as well.

Take out a volt meter and see what that 7.4 LiPo puts out voltage wise while freshly charged. I'm going to guess you are actually putting out over 8 volts to the servos.

Those servos run well on 7.4 volts, but they will get hot during use. Any more volts is asking for meltdown.

X2....but I'd keep em under 7 volts, they are rated at 6 volts max.

They are rated for 7.4 volts.

416.61oz torque at 7.4 volts from the specs.
