Default 45t Lathe "locking up" help please

Not sure if this belongs here or the TLT section. I have a 45t integy and it is almost acting like the screws are binding the motor some?

before it was installed, it moved freely enough, but now that it is in my truck, it seems/sounds like a little binding? is this common and should I just get another thin 3mm washer to space it more?

Yup... sounds like the mounting screws are too long...

Sounds like the screws are a bit too long. Back em out a bit and try running it again with the tires off the ground to listen if it's still hitting. Also if you look into the end of the can where it mounts up see if there are any scratches in the end of the armature. Shorter screws or an extra washer under the head (if there's room) should fix it.

You could also check your pinion and gears. if the pinion is to tight that may cause the noise And dirt may jam it up

Depending on how you are determining the feeling, it could be as simple as the mesh being too tight.

Make sure the pinion set screw isnt hitting the spur gear when it rotates.

Just to clarify...

Are you saying the truck rolled freely before you put the motor in and now it seems to bind?

I had the same problem once with a 55t and turns out after I opened up the motor I had blow the winding. If you cant finding any thing else wrong with it take it apart and look at it.

I will back out the screws. the mesh between the pinion and spur are good, not forced together, just a very, VERY slight gap.

I haven't had a chance to really run it again, so I will try it when I get a chance
