Default The 2s to 3s upgrade jitters

So I'm upgrading from 2s to 3s and already my rig is presenting the jitters and the motor is getting a bit hotter....... I'm not trigger happy on the throttle but I do notice more wheel speed which is nice. Anyway, this is my set up:

*87t spur 14t pinion
*35t motor
*Axial AE-2 with red wire removed from plug
*10 amp cc bec left at factory settings (because I don't have a castle link)
*roughly 6-7lb SCX10
*upgraded from 3500mah 25c 2s to 2200mah 30c 3s

The jitters aren't too often but this never occurred on the 2s

Any help or recommendations is appreciated

What do you mean the jitters?

A bit more heat is normal. You know have 50% more voltage at the ready to shove into the motor. If you never go above 2/3 throttle the motor will only get as warm as it used to on 2s. Go beyond that and you'll create much more heat.

It jitters by twitching when giving it throttle. Like as if power is being lost. Is that 3s too much juice for my set up?

No, I run 3s on everything with no jitters. I'd have to guess you need to drop a tooth or 3 on the pinion. What make of motor are you running?

It's likely the RX is being taxed
by the servo's demand.
Causing the RX to brown out momentarily.

But I don't really know what servo you have
nor what it's voltage demand is ?

The stock Tactic servo should normally operate 4.8v - 6.0v

Tactic Servos

A bandaide fix is to use a capacitor to store some back up
voltage during the higher demand/surge of throttling on-off
I believe plug/play inserted into the Rx
think Novak or Tekin makes them,
tho' I'd never spend my money.

Better fix might simply be to bump up your BEC's voltage to 6.0v
Your local hobby store should be able - willing to help.
Or you can mail it to someone that can set it for you.
Have Link... but won't travel

I'd also double-check the output of your CCBEC using a voltmeter
to be sure that it is adjusted/set to the voltage you intend.

I fried two servos not realizing I had a faulty CCBEC regulator
12+ volts will fry 'dem quick

better to be sure... then sorry

Assuming everything but the battery was the same before this should NOT be the case.
If anything the new battery should remove any brown out problems present earlier, since it can deliver more power to the BEC.

I can think of two possible types of problem causing the described jitter:
1. Radio interference caused by increased radiation from the BEC and/or ESC. A fix to this to move the antenna and Rx away from the perpetrator.
2. The specific motor's response to being fed shorter and higher pulses of power at low throttle. A fix to this would be adding a "sizeable" capacitor between the motor leads.

Factory setting on the CC bec is only 5v. I would find someone with a CC link.

Start disconnecting things. Try running it in the air. Disconnect servo. Check antenna wires, try another receiver if you can. I only use the castle BEC to run my servo, my RX is probably only good for 6V max, so using the ESC BEC to run the RX and lights. Good luck!!

Was the only thing you changed the battery?
