Default CC BEC; about to pull my hair out!

I've got a CC BEC 10amp I use to power my Hitec 7950th. I had programmed it to 6.4v output once, and now, no matter what I do, I can not get CASTLE link to get my "connection status device not linked" to go from red to green. The USB portion of the Castle Link is ok and "in the green". Why on earth would this work once and never again? I've changed nothing.

Fwiw, my BEC leads go directly to my Deans connector that the ESC is mated to.

I've tried with the battery plugged in, without it plugged in. I flipped the castle link sideways, upside down, left right you name it. no go. The light turns green on the castle link but for some reason the program will NOT recognize the bec. I have spent 2 hours online trying to diagnose the issue myself. No avail.

I'm running Windows 10. I've run the program as administrator as well. Any help would be great. At this point I think I'm going to go buy the field programmer so I NEVER have to mess with this USB programming again.

sure you're plugging it in correctly using the correct polarity ?
^ common mistake by many.

if the wiring/plug polarity is not correct... the USB link will not work.
try plugging it in first (correctly)... then open the USB program.

Be sure your external battery is charged...
as many laptop USB ports may not supply enough voltage.

I have had one CCBEC - USB link failure...
but it was my fault as I had accidentally shorted out the CCBEC
and that had killed it's internal voltage regulator.
Killed two servos too during that learning process.

Never had issue with connecting my CCBEC(s) using the USB link otherwise
and I use the CCBEC/USB link exclusively.

Open castle program, plug bec into castle link THEN plug battery in. Thats the only way it works when your bec is soldered to esc plug/wires.

Field link doesn't do anything for BEC anyway. You'd still need to hook it all to the computer.
edit: at least the land based one, you'd have to get the flying one for the BECs

Oh my, thanks gentlemen. I just went through every possible combination I could conceivably imagine including those listed above. Here is the only way I could get mine to connect:
First I had to disconnect battery. Then I turned off the ESC. Then I connected the Castle Link chip to the CC BEC with the brown wire to the negative side of the chip and the yellow to the U shaped side of the chip which left the positive red plugged in the middle part of the chip. Now I connected the USB to the computer then finally to the Castle chip (which remember was already connected to the BEC).

Sheeeeeesh. Everything I read said I had to have the battery connected. Welp, for whatever reason, it won't work with the batt connected. Hope this some how some way can help someone else.

Since the CCBec is designed to be powered by the computer's USB, I think it doesn't like dual power inputs when a battery is also connected. It would likely work with a battery if you disconnected the red wire from the 3-wire connector.

All that said, it's easier to just not include battery power (as you've already done).

That one wire carry the very essence of the BEC's only reason for existence.
Why would anybody come up with the idea of removing it?

The only wire I had disconnected is the red power wire from the esc to the receiver; as I didn't want the esc trying to supply its stock stock voltage while my BEC is trying to supply a higher voltage. If this is what you were referring to Solitaire. Thanks guys.

I guess when you eventually get into MOA crawlers, you'll find that the red wire is pulled from one ESC in every dual ESC situation.

And you really need to quote all as it was qualified in the last sentence.
But, thanks for playing.

In the past I've had similar problems as the OP.

The best way to connect BEC, ESC and servo is with HH bypass connector so that BEC voltage goes straight to servo! Signal and ground are all that go to the ESC and no need to pull the red wire in ESC plug.

Now that setup is done, solder a plug on the BEC wires so that all electrical components can easily be disconnected one at a time indivdually. Unplug/disconnect BEC from everything, open Castle software on pc, plug BEC to Castle-Link and PC, adjust settings, save it and unplug BEC. Enjoy your new BEC settings.

Try plugging in your computer to the computer charger then run software and connect everything. That's what worked for me. It wouldn't work with my battery connected either.
