Radio and Reciever for Crawler King

I need a new transmitter and receiver for my son's CK. We have an older version with 27 MHz radio and he's managed to break off the transmitter antenna, transmitter steering knob, and receiver antenna. To say he's rough on it is an understatement. I've made them functional again but he needs to be very close to the truck or it is glitchy or won't work. In a quick search I've found some HPI TF/RF-40 2.4 GHz radio receiver sets for sale in a price range I can live with. Would this be an appropriate setup for his Crawler King? I'm not looking for the "best" but just something that gets him running reliably at a good price.

yes, that's what they came with for a while, before they changed to the TF-11, which was terrible. The TF-40 is a good radio, IMO.

That does look pretty cool but you are a day late. I ordered the HPI unit over the weekend. But thanks for the link, I'll keep this in mind.
