Default Torque master 40t cogging

I just installed a brand new Holmes hobby torque master 40t in my stock scx10. My first test drive and the motor seems to be cogging. Not sure what to do. Have really heard of a brushed motor cogging. Any suggestions?

It's a 2 cell lipo. Everything else is stock. Esc and gearing. I believe it's 87/20.

Have you checked gear mesh? If thats the only thing that you changed was the motor...im gonna say toooooooo tight/close gear mesh!

Yes, adjusted it a couple times. Not tight at all.

Perhaps that motor needs a more thorough break in period?

I just ran into this issue with a build I'm finishing up. The trick would stutter in rev. I started eliminating g drive train parts to try and isolate the issue. Got down to running just the motor on its own and still had the stutter. Thought for sure it was the esc. Swapped in another esc. Same issue. It was driving me crazy. Finally I got the idea to try a different transmitter. That was it. The cheap axial transmitter works perfect with no problems. Bind my gt3b to it and the stutter returns. FML.

Pinion grub screw is rubbing every Rev or your radio is a nice one with ABS function, most likely. Since you just swapped the motor I would assume pinion set screw is hitting the spur gear.
