Exclamation Twin Pulse chargers suck!

Duratrax Intellipeak Twin Pulse Charger.

I've bought 2 of these. First one totally died after about a dozen charges. It took 2 of my packs with it, overcharged. The second one I got about 6 charges out of it. Now it sounds like a stuck pig when you plug it in. When you plug packs into it, it starts moaning and takes about 30 seconds for it to "kick in". Obviously, I don't dare to leave it unattended, fearing it'll take my new 2400's with it.

Stay away from these!

Are these the ones with dual outputs? I was actually thinking of buying one of these for my emaxx.

I had a duratrax twinn peak charger and never had a bit of trouble. It did a great job. It was the dtxp4150. The onley reason I got rid of it was I bought an emaxx of ebay and it came with a dynamite twin peak charger. so i sold my other to one of my friends and he loves it.

Yes, that's the one.

I recommended it to a friend, he hasn't had any trouble with his after a year. That was before I bought the 2nd one.

That'll probably be my next purchase. I'm going to THROW these 2 in a box and ship them off to Duratrax. If they're not willing to fix them for free, and return to me, I'm going to to be a little PO'd.

So, anyone have a charger they would recommend thats about 50 bucks and I can get off tower that will charge 2 packs?

I have a Duratrax Digital Peak Pirahna charger. I love it. But Its either I buy another Pirahna, or get a basic 2 batt charger.

I dont care too much about Amps. But its gotta be able to charge at 3A, 2A, 1A, and hopefully .5A. If it can do 3A, .5A, and 2A Its all I need. The more options the better... well until it starts getting unneccesary.

I need alot of stuff for my E-Maxx and Ultima. And I just spent 45$ to get my EVX replaced. I need a servo(more torque please), a charger, another basher pack for my Ultima, and once the warm weather comes around, another set of matched packs for my Maxx.

Torque

EDIT-

Just did a little bit of research. Overall the Dynamite looks like a better buy. But 4A off of an AC outlet is odd. 1A is also good for a slow charge.

I'm still undecided. I can get another pirahna for 35$ shipped using coupons. It would almost be a better investment to buy 2 pirahas for 70 Bucks. you get so much more adjustability.

Any other options in this. 70 bucks for a dual batt charger that has no options at all seems like a rip off.

I love the Triton but it has a couple of things that folks might not like.

The first is that it is DC only. You'll need to have a 12V power supply available.

Second is that the discharge amp rate is only 3A. Ten 1157s will make a 20A bulb discharger if you need one.

I've also heard good things locally about the MRC Super Brain 969. It's $90 at Tower.

yea, i know that some people had had quite a few troubles with the twin pulse duratrax charger. The charger would smoke or they would smoke your batteries, I have only seen one that worked real well. I am with Jason on the Triton, it is one awesome charger. The Super brain 969 is cool but it has a tendancy to cook lipos even though MRC says it is lipo compatible.

I had a 959, called it "The Great False Peaker".

From what I've seen it's like drawing straws with the 959s...some swear by them, some would rather toss'm in the lake.

I've read where people are modding the cases of the 959s and adding a cooling fan to keep them from false peaking.

I sold mine months ago and haven't had a problem with it since.
