Default Is my servo junk or am I an idiot?

I was replacing a gear in my servo, and got it all put back together and installed when i fired every thing up and when i turned the servo it wouldn't return to center I pulled it out and tried it out of the rc and the servo moves each direction but when you let off the controller that is where it stops it wont recenter itself. It has done the same thing on two other radio systems so the radio is fine. does anyone know what is wrong and if it can be fixed?

Thanks

So if you turn the wheel on the radio right it stays right? It sounds an awful lot like the potentiometer inside the servo is not attached to the gear correctly. The potentiometer tells the servo the position of the gears (and ultimately the arm) so the servo thinks it's at center even after you turn it. Most of the time on metal gear servos there's a plastic insert under the big gear where the spline attaches that keys the big gear to the potentiometer. That's what I would check first. I would be careful about messing with it to much as the servo is likely hitting the internal stop and stalling the motor when you're at full lock and that can burn up a servo quickly.

I am using a plastic gear servo, and the potentiometer is set so the motor doesn't spin continually, if it isn't where i set it the motor jut spins crazy, and i didn't see a plastic insert when i peaked inside the servo

Underneath the gear is where the pins are
This one eliminated the part that breaks

Well I'm the idiot this time, i didn't have the gear with the horn pushed in all the way, so the oval hole in the bottom of the gear wasn't over the potentiometer all the way, fixed the issue now I can break more stuff, thanks guys
