| Axial Yeti Vanguard 3150kv motor...any good?
Is this a reliable motor? I've naturally got one in a RTR Yeti and it's still going strong...it's probably from 2014; we bought the truck SH recently so I've no idea how many hours it's done...plenty by the looks of the truck's plastics. They say 'water resistant' on the Axial site...does it tolerate some water (not totally submerged but running through puddles, wet grass, winter weather) and is it a 'decent' motor as far as longevity goes? Winter is approaching in Melbourne and I want to have the trucks ready for the incoming wet weather to keep driving. Not looking for more power, better low speed control etc. Power is fine and cogging is also fine as it's a dedicated rock racer. If it handle the above without instantly turning up its toes then that's great. I'm looking to getting a SCT8 120 ESC for the Yeti if the motor is decently reliable else I'll look for the Losi Baja Rey/Rock Rey ESC/motor combo which cogs but has excellent power and thermal handling. |

I have that motor here.... But not in my Yeti. I swapped out the Tekin4x4HD 3000kv and what a huge difference , much more torque and no cogging due to the sensor Hang up and Drive |

So was the Axial motor reliable and tolerated a bit of wet before you replaced it with the Tekin? I'm not really interested in replacing it if it's reliable. It performs fine as is. I just want to be confident it won't short out with some wet weather running. |

Never failed, as its sensorless water wasn't an issue. Ran hot on 3s with stock esc. I just tried it out in a 2wd, same esc(SW3) same heat issues, swapped a 2650 in and it ran cool and powerful. I'm not a big fan.( Castle claims this setup is fine on 3s, why is the 2650 better ?) Hang up and Drive Last edited by mikemcE; 03-19-2017 at 08:21 PM. |

Yeah mine runs reasonably warm too on 3S (about 60 C) but as long as it's reliable with a bit of water I'm not too fussed. It's just to flog a Yeti around. I've picked up a HW Max10 SCT 120 up which may hopefully sort the hot ESC issues on 3S. |

I have had mine completely submerged and have made it do giant wheelies. Never had any issues.

I've found it's a great motor thus far though it does get decently hot on 3S but not really any hotter than the stock Rock Rey motor. The wet weather is now here so I'll see how it goes over Winter but I'm pretty impressed for a stock setup. I'll likely get one of the Castle motors when it dies though. Something affordable and decent anyway.
