I need opinions on lightbars...I was looking at the Gearhead RC one’s and also a light kit from My Trick RC. I may just decide to run a light bar for now but may add headlights and such later on. Thank you in advance!

I agree with just get a light bar and others later for scale look. The high mounted LEDs offer more usable light. Especially if you run them on 3S they are really made for 12V. I am thinking of updating my rig to run on 3S or just run a stand alone 3S 2200maH drone bat. just for the lighting with a voltage cutoff or limit alarm. I'm running a 5' Vanquish light bar and it is very bright on 3S. All of the other lights are just for show. I mounted some rear white backup lights in my rear bumper that come on with reverse and they are useful. I also mounted a red LED in each wheelwell for night crawling and that really helps. Otherwise it can look like a couple floating flashlights on the ground.

I also am looking to switch to a 3cell... how do you get the reverse lights to turn on when in reverse? That’s the one thing that I kinda liked about the My trick Rc light kits ...they come with a controller.

The kit allows you to program how the light responds to the receiver. The reverse light programming was tricky. I had to call them to get it figured out. Good customer support. It's pretty sweet. I programmed the reverse signal to be off at neutral and come on at about 5% rev. throttle before he motor does anything. Pretty sweet. It was like I could just turn on the reverse lights without the rig moving. These controllers have high and low amp outputs and programmable intensity I think. It's been a while since I did all this.

HeyOK makes all the controllers you could want. If he doesn’t, he can Hang up and Drive |

I got the front lights + light bar on a controller in channel 3 running straight from the 3s battery and the rear brake lights linked to the throttle channel. I used 2 HeyOK controllers and it's perfect. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

I've got the brake, reverse and light controller on my Yeti, and strongly recommend it. Small, cheap, easy to install, does lots of nice things.
