Default Tekin Rock Crawler Motors

Hi,

Just researching ready for my SCX10 II build and would like to use one of the Tekin Rock Crawler hand wound motors but I don't know to choose the T30 or T40 would there be much difference in speed & torque between the 2?

Truck will be used for crawling and trails.

Many thanks.

Honestly yes.
Not a huge amount but there are some differences. The battery does have an impact on this too.
How fast does he want to go? How much is he going to crawl? How heavy is his truck? What size tires? Bottom line is what feels the best to him might not be for me. I run a 13 turn HH motor in my rig. Really fast when I need it and has a lot of torque to crawl. If you read through the tech forums you will find a lot of info out there. The search button is your friend.

Probably 3s, but not decided 100% on ESC yet but will probably be Hobbywing 1080 or Tekin FX-R.

Thanks for the reply, I have done lots of searching but as you say there are lots of variables that make it difficult to compare.

What I really need is someone that has tried 2 motors (10 turns difference)in the same rig and measured speed between the 2 to give a mph difference.

I guess at the end of the day I would be happy with either motor

You know if it is a trail rig you could always go brushless. Sensored setups have gotten a little cheaper. Holmes Hobbies has great stuff but read around, there are a lot of set ups that are great for a trail rig.

Think I would prefer brushless at the moment due to budget.

Can't seem to find a supplier of Holmes Hobbies here in the UK

Brushless is more expensive than brushed.

I have s 35 turn tekin fed by an fxr that I run on 3 and 4s. Very happy with it for the price. For an scx10-2 go 30 or 35 turn.

Loved my puller pro brushless motors. However I recently just discovered brushed motor is so smooth and the drag brake is amazing. I could drive the rig in very slow even in down hill. The whole action just like a real truck, I don’t even need to adjust my video’s speed ( slow motion ). The Holmes Hobbies brushed motor just Amazing smooth.

Many thanks lots of choice there but I fear the shipping cost will be too much.
