Default DC Charger Recommendation

Friends, I'm looking for a DC charger and unfamiliar what is out there. I'm returning to the hobby after 20 years of hiatus.

I want DC as I will be charging from my truck and my solar system. I will be using mostly 2S and 3S LiPo packs.

Thanks

Default DC Charger Recommendation

Hitec makes a good array of chargers. Here’s a few AC/DC and DC only chargers from Amain Hobbies- https://www.amainhobbies.com/search?...tec+x2+charger

My 2 chargers are the Accucell 6 and the X120, both from Hobbyking. Both operate on 12VDC. I use an old PC power supply, but you can use any 12v source, including your car battery.

I picked up an ISDT Q6 recently and really like it. Very simple and strong charger. https://www.amainhobbies.com/isdt-q6...isd-q6/p607105

I bought a little SkyRC S60 charger from banggood and it's surprisingly good.

Lots of options, nice simple menus and 6A is plenty for single crawler batteries.

I might get the D100v2 if i ever need more power and dual charging.

I second ISDT, I got the 20A model and love the options. I can throw up to 500 watts at a battery (or 250w between 2 parallel charging), discharge, give a storage charge, see the internal resistance, and even update the firmware. It also shows how many mAh you've put into the battery so far.

The best part is the price, I got mine for $60. They seem to offer deals every few weeks or months, as there's another at $60 from here: https://www.progressiverc.com/isdt-s...xoC8XoQAvD_BwE

The down side is you need a PSU, but it's still a great deal with a $30-40 power supply. I made mine from a $10 server PSU. The AC units are convenient but usually very pricey if you want any sort of power. A 60W charger will take an hour to charge a 4600mah 3S while my charger could charge a 10000mah 6s in half that time.

Second that on the $10 server power supply. Best investment ever made at $15 shipped.

Thanks, I'm leaning this way myself.

Can you guys post the part # for the isdt and power supply?

I may go that way for my dual charger.

Default Kinexsis KX80 AC/DC Charger

My LHS used to carry these and recommended it over some of the other brands available. It was more then, I think I paid about $70, and I still think it's about the best I could have done. It works great off a 12V car battery as well, does all the smart charging for lipos. If your batts can handle higher than 1C charge rate this will do it, it will also go up to 4.3v stop for lipo so if you have any of the HV lipene packs it gets them really close to capacity. For $50 you can't miss.

A blog on them here: https://www.bigsquidrc.com/kinexsis-kx80-acdc-charger/

And what it looks like:
