Default Castle kv for Bomber.

Received my Bomber and SCX10 II kits today, I'll be building the SCX10 II first, when my SCX10 OG is rebuilt, so I have a little time to wait before the Bomber gets underway, I already have a servo for it, receiver and LiPos orders (3600 3s 30C) but I am not sure what the right kv choice for me will be.
I'm looking at the Castle Mamba X with Slate motor as a combo, initially I thought the 2850kv so I have a little extra wheelspeed on 3s.
But would that be wise for low crawling ability?
I've done some researching on YouTube etc... But nobody ever gives much info on gearing and LiPos used, so it's kinda hard to judge.
I basically want to be able to crawl pretty well, but also have good wheelspeed for the muddy stuff and hill climbing etc... Also for jumping up rocks when needed, basically what it's built for.
Could someone recommend a good all rounder?
I am still thinking the 2850 is going to be the recommended kv, as the next one down is 1900 I believe which might be good on 4s but I don't ever intend on trying that.
You electrical boffins' info would be very appreciated

To start with I run the mamba X with the 1410 3800kv castle on 3S. I started on 16/64....it was rapid. Changed back to 12/64 and it was fine. I am however running the 2 speed. When I went to 12/64 I changed the 2nd gear ratio to the higher one for a bit more speed.

Im now running the MMX and 2200kv, on a 17/64 and 4S.

Hmm I definitely think 3800 will be a bit high.
Do you recall if there is anymore movement to go down even more on pinion size, lower than 12 with stock spur?
Just thinking of options if I end up going for the 2850 and it's a bit much on the top end.

Crawled fine with a 3800....even on 16T. The 2 speed makes a big difference. You should be able to go lower than 12 no problem.

I won't be going 2 speed with mine, so need to get a happy medium.
I bet that was nuts on 3s at 3800 lol!

I have a Tekin ROC412 3100kv and a Holmes Hobbies Puller Pro 3500kv for my Bomber. I much prefer 3100kv on 2S and 3S.

Thank you, sort of confirming my thoughts that somewhere in the 2850kv range will work out best then.
Kinda annoying how small the battery tray is on the Bomber, or I'd aim for a 2s combo as I have so many 2s packs!

The battery tray isn't small IMO.

I easily fit all of my 2S hard case 5000 and 6000mAh LiPos up there and my soft case 5000mah 3S LiPos.

I guess it depends which brand you use, being in the UK I don't have quite as many options as you guys over the pond (story of my RC life!)
I might try and see how far off a 2s is in there when I finally get around to building it.
It's currently acting as a stand for my SCX10 II kit lol.

I have the 2850 Castle combo on my Bomber with a 10 tooth pinion and it's great. All the speed I could ever use in a trail/crawling environment and great low speed control.

Funnily enough, it's your video that made me start looking at the Castle set up originally!
At the start of the video, was that flat out?
Just trying to get an idea of the wheelspeed available on that set up.
