What I found is when binding the remote doesn't confirm it's bound, but when you switch the remote off and pull the bind plug everything seems to work....just saved me $25 as I was about to buy another receiver.

Thanks very much ScottyPotty!

We helped each other ;-)

Can you please see if it holds the bind after a having it turned on and off a few times at various intervals?

I think I remember reading somewhere that it would loose the bind...

I found this on another forum....

----------
If you look on the tube, there's a few people binding GT5s with the A3.

The trick seems to be doing the usual procedure but turning the GT5 off-on again and the bind light on the A3 will go solid. You also have to put the bind plug in the TOP port of the A3

Not sure why the second power cycle is needed to make the bind successful but it seems to work in the videos. I don't currently own a GT5 to verify it works, though.

So to recap:

Bind plug in top port of A3.

Switch on power to receiver. Receiver LED blinks fast.

Press and hold bind button on GT5 and switch GT5 on. Receiver LED blinks slowly.

Release bind button, switch off GT5.

Switch GT5 back on WITHOUT holding bind button. Receiver LED lights solid.

Bind complete.

Hoping that someone can now confirm if the FS-A3 works on the GT5? :ror:

Yes, but as mentioned, the bind process is slightly different then the 6 ch Rec. I just bound the FS-A3 about a week ago and it worked fine. I found a YouTube video on the different bind process and followed that.

If you only need 3 channels, you can't beat the FS-A3. Two for $20 delivered!

I've had mine on and off several times and the bind still seems fine.

So digging into this a bit deeper it looks like it will work and seems to keep its bind.

The process that worked for me was very similar to Mr Lee.
Put in the bind plug channel 3
power up receiver and you will have a blinking red light
hold the bind and power up the GT5 - red light still blinks (release the bind button)
Cycle the power on the GT5 and when it powers back on the red light will be solid and then you will have a bind.

What I discovered is that the regular 6 channel receiver will only work on what it was bound to. What I mean is if you have a TRX4 in program 1 it will only work with that TRX4.
If you try to run the capra on program #1 it will not operate. But these FS-A3 will work on any channel, any program, so if you forget to change program you could
potentially have an issue with endpoints or other setpoints.

That's odd with 2.4 but good to know. Easy way to burn out a steering servo or drive a rig off the bench.

Well.....upon further research. I found that if I have program 1 selected (trx4) and running that rig and then power up the FS-A3 receiver it will simultaneously run both vehicles at the same time...lol

I'm going to order the correct receiver......not worth the savings for me.

Im trying to set the dig up on my capra on ch4. Would like to have the 3 positions be 4wd—-rear freewheel—-rear locked, i can use the EPA to get the dig to operate, but ch4 trim doesnt seem to work so i can set the center position….
Anybody got any insite on this issue?

Ah no I just ordered an A3

Actually reading this again it kind of makes sense. Every TX has a unique I.D which the receiver binds to, so if you bind it to that receiver then it is only listening and outputting the signals received from that I.D./code. This is the main reason for the whole 2.4GHZ platform and reduced interference from other users as was the case back in the day! I remember the frequency peg boards from my flying days and the whole worrying about switching on when someone else is on the same frequency...or worse having someone do it to you!!!

The problem with the "cheaper" radio sets is that there is a possibility that they do not store exact trim and expo settings for each model due to limited memory. So a trim adjustment in model memory 1 may show the same change when changing over to model number 2.

I will check this when I get the new receiver.

I dont have the A3 rx, i use the ai6. Its a bit bigger than the bs6, but a lil cheaper. I dont have any issues with the tx holding settings from one memory to the next for each rig.

Curious aswell if its the A3 rx thats causing that issue. I know with the 2 ai6 n bs6 rx, the tx will tell me to turn off a truck in order to switch from one to the next. Which kinda sucks. I wanted to run 2 trucks without havin to fiddle with 2 tx

Update!!! I can confirm that the A3 receiver binds as per the posted set of instructions "thumbsup"

Press and hold bind button on GT5 and switch GT5 on. Receiver LED blinks slowly.

Release bind button, switch off GT5.

Is it like mine where the A3 will work on any/all program numbers and simultaneous with the bs6 RX.

Sorry Scotty I have only manage to bind the A3 for now. Radio is new so just need to finish the second Element BK2 kit and I will use the BS6 ;-)
