i have a Airtronics 94359Z on my Crawlerstore stick chassis for the front steering and when i turn the servo by the controller. It seems to have plenty of torque but it struggle's to center back and when i go in reverse i cannot get it to turn left very well.

i have tryed new servo horn and 2 different battery packs.

i am running clodbuster axle's,masher 2000's with no weights in the tyres

9.6v battery with 6v rx pack.

Thats odd. You say it struggles to return to center. Is that on flat ground?

Did you pull the red wire from your ESC plug that hooks to the reciever? If you didn't,that might be it.

Without the red wire,it didn't work????? Did you have the RX battery pluged in at that time? The whole reason for pulling the red wire is for using an Rx pack. With the red wire in play and a Rx pack together.....you'll burn the BEC out of your ESC If you've tinkered with it much with both in play, your BEC is probly toast. Your kinda stuck running an Rx pack now unless you can send it for repair

ANY servo will struggle at times....even in easy spots. Your having power issues here,it's obvious to me. Low power will result in poor servo performance

My 10 year old struggles to understand the way wires work.as do I sometimes I'm not saying you are, just explaining my situation. These are the steps I tell my son to take getting his truck ready for a run. This is with the red wire pulled

Charge both batteries (main and Rx)

Plug main pack in but leave the Rx alone.

Turn the switch on the ESC to the on possition(when the light turns on)

Now plug the Rx pack into the reciever. I have to remind him to watch the possitive and negative with this one

Install body and clips and burn rubber

If you follow these steps,it should work like a champ. My sons Twin was running a TR2,2 359's,27t stock motor,a 6,7 or 8 cells main pack,6v Rx pack and Moab XL's. Following these steps, his always worked great. He is now running a Super Rooster but nothing else has changed and it works good

We do have a couple Rx packs out there that refuse to take a charge. Don't rule that out yet

Do you have a switch on your Rx pack?

Do the servo's react well?

I think you might have posted when I posted. Did you read my steps above?

I'm at a loss here. All 3 trucks out in the shop right now run basically the same. A 359 on each axle,ESC with the red wire pulled and 6 volt Rx pack. I use the same steps as above to run them and they always work well, unless a Rx pack fasle peaks.

Are you sure theres nothing in the steering linkage in a bind, trim is set near center and nothings in a bind at the knuckles?

Sometimes trim can goof things up. You might try to remove the servo arm,set trim at center and reinstall the servo arm. If the trim is all the way to one side,it might be trowing a monkey wrench in there

i am running a Hitec 5645mg for the rear steering but that seems to work fine.

Thanks

james

BUT,is your trim knob on the radio near center? If it's got bumped and is near the full lock in either direction,it could make the servo react differently one way or another.

Try removoving the servo arm from the servo, recentering the trim knob and then reinstalling the servo arm. That'll put everything back to the centers and eliminate that factor.

Default Bit Of An Update

well just charged my rx pack up and re-wired my receiver. Its stop glitching and the servo seems to be working better. i have being running the red wire out of the esc wire with the esc turned ''on'' and the rx pack turned ''on'' . will it still work ok with both of them turned ''on''?

Thanks for all your help so far.

That's how I run... Both on, red wire yoinked from ESC and it works fine... If the RX pack dies, it's easy to unplug that then plug the red wire into the batt. plug where the red wire normally goes... And it works... I programmed my EXV to the new radio like that...

That should be fine. It's how I run mine except I don't have to turn my Rx pack on. No switch,it just plugs in. IMHO,the only drawback to running a RX pack is when it gets low, your steering suffers. I can normally get about 3-5 good runs out of a charge with my RX pack(5 AA Energizers) depending on how I drive it. I useally top it off every 2nd run. I'm fixen to build a couple extra packs so I can just swap out and not worry about it much.
