Default Dx4c vs. dx2e

So ive been using a dx4c for a few years now and i really like the radio. been using the multiple model memorys for my 3 trucks and have had no complaints with it. I recently got a mamba x combo for my 10.2 and its geared down with an stock spur and an 11 tooth pinion and was a bit dissapointed with the low speed control, throtle curve set on the esc and all that jazz. For the fisrt time i bound that truck to a dx2e i bought recently so i could go wheeling with a buddy and low and behold the low end control from the dx2e was much better. Alot more touchy wich dosnt make sense to me because i have expo set to zerp on my dx4c. Any one know of any settings i could have gotten out of whack on the radio to cause poor resolution with throtle? Could the pot be getting worn out, or is there a chance i may be dirty?

I don't really mess with the expo much on my setups so I'm no expert, but you say you have Zero. wouldn't more expo be what you want? From what I've read throttle expo is the same or similar to throttle curve on the ESC.

Aside from that the typical mantra of volt up and gear down should also apply. A bigger spur or smaller pinion while going to 3s if you're running 2s should give you better low end control, torque, as well as more top speed.

I dont use any expo JRH gave an explination of it as removing throtle steps where as a curve moves the steps closer together. Just currious why a newer but cheaper radio would have better startup and resolution...

Because it's newer? They tend to revise firmware as things get newer, so that could be all it is.

You might want to do some research on all the changes with the firmware. There have been a few times spektrum firmware updates remove useful features and you can't roll them back. It may be worth checking before you update
