Default Spektrum DX8 - Channel Mixing

I use a Spektrum DX8 with a 6 channel receiver. for my RC cars. I use AUX1 for the winch. I replaced the 3-way switch with a momentary center off switch to be used solely for the winch. I use MIX1 to control the winch.

Was wondering if I could also add a slight forward motion to the wheels while I am reeling in. I use the ELEVATOR channel for forward and reverse.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm doing exactly this on the DX5C, so I'm sure it's possible. I set up the Master as Throttle, and on forward, it reels in the winch from Aux1. Set it up so it's able to be switched on and off so I don't snap a winch line.

I just got the Spektrum DX5R second hand , this is my first radio . Would you be able to explain how you got it to work , sort of step by step ? I currently have a button working as a 3 position switch to do the winch in and out but been trying to figure out how to do what you did , might also help the him to figure out how to get it working on DX8 .

Select the Mixing Submenu:

Navigate to the ACT menu:

Select the channel you want to be the master and which one you want to be the slave. I'm using Aux 1 to control my winch. Once you've done that, scroll to Rate, and throttle in the position you want to go, then use the scroll wheel to adjust the rate for winch amount during throttle input in the desired direction. I opted to not have the winch spool back in on reverse throttle, so left that at 0%. Note, that you may have to spool your winch in or out completely so the mix works properly and the winch spools in on throttle input.

Next, select the free switch you want to use to turn this function on or off. If the switch is already assigned to another function, it won't be available.

If you've forgotten if you left Mixing on or off, you can see the status in the monitor screen. It shows a "1" next to the Aux channel if mixing is on, and it will also show the slider value as input is done on the radio.

That's about it.

Ok, with your help I got mine to work. for this using a DX8 here's how I did it.

MIX1 is set up for my winch using AUX1 - AUX1

MIX2 is set up for forward motion while winching IN but using AUX1 - ELEV (I use the ELEVATOR channel for forward and reverse) and then set it to 16 so far, subject to change depending on how it performs out on the trail. When I winch in, the wheels now turn to drive the RC forward (or rather UP THE HILL

Adjust the travel, limit it to less than 100%

If you have modes, that's what they are for.

Use the different modes and then program one with a throttle curve that's capped off on the high end.
