Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged Picked one up myself a little over a week ago. Waited until I had a chance to go to Amain so I could actually put hands on it before buying it. Overall build quality feels pretty decent to me. Pretty solid and has just a little bit of heft to it. As others have said, scroll pad takes a minute to get used to, wish you could set it up for taps instead of sliding, but it's certainly usable. Also agree thumb lever is a little short, should be fixable though. Pretty happy with it overall. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5873a1baf9.jpg Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |

Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged I had my first time out with my new Spektrum Rugged today. When I first got it I really didn't like the way SPektrum has the touch style buttons but now that I sat and messing around with it I find it's much easier to use but it's still not my favorite setup button wise vs other brand radios I have used. Ok that being said it's really the only complaint I have. The screens and ease of use I fnd to be very easy and espically I have not used Spektrum stuff since the original radios Spektrum had out which I didn't care for overall quality wise and the receivers losing bind on hard hits. Got what I didn't like out. Lets get into what I do like. Only been crawling for about 6 months so never had the need for a winch. The Rugged was very easy to program my Aux swith assign function and setup so that I can use the winch off the assigned switch (c) that I used. Very cool feature. Next I used the Aux assign again and setup Aux channel 2 to (D) which I setup to have adjustable drag brakes on my Castle Micro X esc. Really like that it's pretty easy to do. THe new SR515 receiver is a nice small size and being 5 channel is a nice touch. The SR515 receiver is a nice compact size and works great in my crawler. The added lever so you can throttle and drive with the same hand is a nice touch. Overall other than the touch buttons to adjust the main screens that I don't care for I really like the rest of the radio and after using it for 5 hours crawling I have to say it is an excellent radio overall. |

Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged I have a question. I was setting up my rugged last night. I'm using A as aux1 for the my winch have it set up as momentary and when I hit the button I'm getting winch and throttle together. How do I change it so it just operates the winch? |

Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged I am used to Knob type adjustments... How do you adjust the steering trim on the fly, or turn my idle up or down on my nitros??? |
Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged Use liner mode on the switch of your choice. |

Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged I have several problems with the dx5. from the first hour broke the rubber strap hoop. another serious thing that makes and I do not understand why,it's that the channels are out of order and sometimes I go into the aux settings and there are no adjustments! other times if push the throttle trim I cannot adjust it to 0% and the car is going at the same time! so far disappointed |
Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged Reduce the steps on your trim to 4 or 5 in the trim setup menu. I had the same issue as 9 was to big a step. As for aux being out of order I have no Idea, but may have been how things were programmed. Try setting up a new model. |
Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged Random question. Does this, or the DX5c, have a decently strong trigger spring? I currently have a DX2e and the throttle trigger is WAY too light with barely any resistance. |

Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged can anyone explain to me how put drag brakes in a channel? It is possible with hobbywing 1080? |

Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged For EU this is true. And make sense for other countries also. But I think for US DSM2 is still available. Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk |
Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged There is DSM2 Surface, and DSM2 Air, and they are different, everything you can find now is DSM2 Air will not bind (I have tried 3 different ones, generic and from Spektrum). Possibly if you had an old surface DSM2 FROM SPEKTRUM it might bind, but I wouldn't count on it. Edit:my experience is with the dx5 pro, dx5c and dx5r, I do not have a rugged, so maybee definatly not if there is no refrence to it or 16.5ms available. Bottom line with Spektrum expect to pony up for there higher priced receivers. |

Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged I have a couple sets of Duracell Nimh rechargeable AA's 2200 mah batteries I use in the bottom of my TX's. Run time is days and then 2 hours of recharging and you have days more to go... |
Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged I bound to a (probably knockoff) DSM2 receiver just fine... |

Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged So which would you prefer the rugged or the 5c. A main has the rugged at 199 with the 5 channel reciver and the 5c with a 6 channel reciver for 149 Sent from my iPhone X using Tapatalk |
Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged Personally I still prefer the 5c, but the steering wheel on the rugged is pretty handy. But the touch controls are quite the learning curve. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk |

Re: Spektrum DX5 Rugged I have to say, I chose the Dx5 Rugged. I find the thumb lever actually falls into hand readily and the sections where you are just walking along I found it rather handy. I also dropped it on my last trail run. I have fallen on my face, and my rear more than a few times in snow and mud and the knowlage that it is shock and water resistant made the extra $50 worth it to me. The touch pad does take getting used to, but it took me less than a minute. |

Trying to set up a 3 position light switch and I'm having the same issue. Turn the lights on or off and it triggers the throttle. I'm not sure I understand this answer, anyone able to explain how to fix it? |
