| Lipo Charger Inquiry
Sup peeps, I’ve been using the same Lipo Charger for years. It’s an old IMAX B6 4 button style 80 watt charger. I use a 12v 5ah AGM battery as my power supply. I added a digital volt meter to it to keep an eye on the battery’s voltage and I use a CenTech trickle charger on the battery when charging. It works fine, it’s just slow. Been thinking about getting a new charger. Something more modern. The charger I’m looking at is the Junsi I-Charger x6 rated at 800w. Anyone use one or one that is similar? What I’m wondering for anyone who may have used this charger or a similar one, would my 12v battery be sufficient to power it, or do I need to invest in a power supply as well? It states that the Input Voltage Range is 10.0—32.0VDC. My little AGM battery on the trickle charger averages 13-15 volts. If I could get away with not buying a power supply for a while and just getting the charger, that would be preferable. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks.👍🏼 |

Why not get an AC/DC charger? You can get a Hitec RDX1 Pro AC/DC for $69.

you can also get a acdc version of the imax b6 chargers its basicly the same only it has the ac adaptor build in and is only $30 the rate of charge wont change the batterys have a preset charge rate 1c =1 amp basicly and most batterys max out at 5c charge rate or 5 amps charging any faster might kill the battery and/or burn your house down also the new imax charger has more battery settings for diferant types of batterys than my old imax charger Last edited by ferp420; 09-21-2019 at 07:20 AM. |

My biggest reason for not getting an AC/DC charger is lack of power availability. Might start racing again. The track is set up and torn down in a local Home Depot parking lot and power is very limited. Being self sufficient is a must. Maybe Im just being blinded by the allure of shiny new electronics?

Those new micro-sized chargers are pretty nifty, and I have seen some really nice power supplies on sites like banggood and AliExpress... Decent prices, too.

I'll just mention that one factor that got me to upgrade was that my old charger couldn't charge LIHV (well it could but it charged to lipo specs). I think its nice to have to option to charge the various newer battery chemistries like LIHV, LIFE, Lilon just in case you end up with one of those. I've been happy with my HiTec AC/DC chargers, the RDX1 and the X2 |

AC/DC - it’s not just a band! Timely post though - I’ve been thinking about updating my charger as well. HItec is the front runner for me right now.
