Default Savox VS HH steering.

Just got a servo breakdown today. 5 pcs this year.. so im going All in now.. No more chinese 10cent servos!

HH SHV500v3 Vs Savox sw2290sg-be.
Which of these beasts will be my best bet?
Its going on a Enduro with a good amount of alloy and some brass parts.
So not a stock rig.

I'd say recommend considering servos from Futaba, Hitec, & ProTek (Amain's in-house brand). All are excellent, all are backed with great warranties & excellent customer service, and all offer servos work the strength & speed you're wanting.

The two choices you gave are different animals. One is a direct power, the other is not.

I can get the HH and Savox for a great deal, as my LHS is placing a big order to push the unit price down

Hitec is great also, but i dont have the opertunity to get a good price on them

No problem with the Savox not being direct power. I run 7,4v lipo, so no problem at all hooking it up with Y harness.

The two you've chosen both have excellent reputations for good reason. I personally am bugged by the noisy Savox, and it's a bit of am amperage hog, but other than that noone complains about it.

You may want to consider the Promodeler 630 as well. I have a few of them in various trucks and they are beasts. I basically destroy servos and haven't managed to hurt a 630 yet. The 470 version is very good as well, I have several of those, but if you want overkill then why not get the most overkill.

IMO dont waste your money on the Hitec 7900 series as they all have a plastic gear inside which I've stripped several of before finding the Promodelers.

This.
Don't ignore the promodellers, they're absolutely superb, so quiet and smooth.
Presumably you'll be rocking 1.9s so not much point going all out power where it's not needed.

That 630 looks like a contender...
But how does it look with EU suppliers? Thats a main issue for me.

I have been running a Holmes Hobbies shv500v2 for 2 years
Completely silent and direct power on my 3s LiPo is peace of mind for the wiring.

I won't run anything else in my crawlers.

I'm in the UK and got mine direct.
Get in touch with John Beech via his website; he was great to deal with, very quick to ship

The shv500v3 is excellent, but needs at least 3S. If you’re staying 2S the 2290 is a solid choice.

UK shouldnt be a problem for me. I Will consider Promodeler

Topher, i could step up from 2s to 3s. But thats extra weight up High, and we dont like that
At this moment my setup is doing really great on 2s.
HH PP V2 2700kv and Mamba X. Not needing more power than i allready got

I've got three of the 500v3's so you could say I'm a fan. I've also got a Reef's 555 in my Enduro, and a Savox 1210 in a 2.2 Wraith. The 555 and the 1210 need a beefy BEC (hence the reason I use a BEC in my Wraith with a 1080) and use the 555 in my Enduro with a Mamba X. Direct power is a different animal and not really fair to be compared, in my opinion. I've not tried some of the servos that others are mentioning, but I know you won't be disappointed by the 500v3! One other aspect to look at that you mentioned, with a direct power servo you can get away with a smaller and lighter ESC, like a Mamba Micro or BRXL. I use a Micro in my Capra with 4ws using two of the 500's.

As i mentioned before, direct power isnt a issue. Im gonna use a Y Harness. So whatever servo i choose, it will get direct power

If you are committed to sticking with 2S for your drive battery, I wouldn't get a HH V3. You would end up needing a separate (presumably 4S) battery just for the servo.

I would say AGFrc A81BHM...way enough torque, programable and fast ;)

I am pretty committed to 2S. Great performance, and i really dont need more wheel speed. So the HH is out

This is a classic example of why it's always cheaper in the long run to buy quality parts to start with.
