Default RC4WD winch controller and 4PM setup

Hi,

I'm trying to setup my 8274 winch with RC4WD wired controller and Futaba 4PM. I can get it to work but not for my liking. With 2 position switch (SW1), the winch just spooling right away after all electronics turn on.
I also can setup and run with just retract and off by setup CPS Mix, if I want to extend the line I have to freewheeling the winch.

Does anyone know how to setup these with 3 positions (retract - off - extend) setting in 4PM?

Switch needs to be set at 3p and 100.

Harley shows how to set up a dig on the VS4, it’s the same setup. You are running a winch controller?

About 11:45 set sub trim first to stop creeping, then set EPs for directions

Yup, I'm running winch controller.

4PM has no 3 pos switch. If I'm not mistaken, 4PL can be setup a 2 pos switch to work similar 3 pos but with flicking 2 times the switch.

Any idea?

Edit:
Just checked 4PL has 3 pos switch.

The 4PM is, in many ways, just a lowered-channel version of the 7PX Both have SW 'switches' (ie. buttons), as well at DT dials (ie. digital trim). In the settings, you would change the "steps" of your selected DT to '100' (default is usually '1' or '2'). This way, rotating left/right would produce results of -100/0/+100...essentially, a 3-position switch.

This works perfectly on my 4PLS, using DT1 or DT2

Well... it works!!! Thanks, for your help

I set DT3 into 100, now this switch act as 3pos switch.

No problem! I learned all about it from Josh.
The Futabas are quite versatile.

This is the closest thread I can find to ask this question in...

On the 4PM, can the digital trim buttons (DT1 through DT5) be set up for momentary operation? I know the switches (SW1 and SW2) can be set that way, but they're only two position. I'm wondering if the 4PM can provide a 3 position momentary switch.

Yeah? It says it can be set up as a 3 position switch. No mention of momentary operation. These are two separate things. I'm not asking about a 3 position switch, I'm asking if it can do 3 position MOMENTARY operation.

ETA: When I read the manual I find online, it specifically says that SW1 and SW2 can be set up for momentary operation (using different terminology). The section in the manual discussing the digital trim setup makes no mention of it so I *assume* you can't do that with them. I need to confirm before striking this Tx off my list.

ETA 2: To be clear, by 'momentary' I mean that you push the switch to make it go, you let off to make it stop. As opposed to you push it to make it go, it keeps going when you let off, and it stops when you push the switch again. The former is what I need, the latter is not.

Nevermind, I found out that to get momentary on the 3 position switch you have to use a 'trick' that uses channel mixing. So that uses two channels to operate one channel, making it a 3 channel setup in practice. Won't work for me as I need 4 channels too.
