Default Spectrum STX3 question

Hi folks. My buddy was trying to set up his Spectrum STX3 radio in his truck and he is having a hang of a time to have it bind. We both followed the instructions in the manual but all the Rx would do was blink. The Rx is the SRX300 that came with the radio.
Would anyone be able to guide us on this problem?
Any advise or instructions would be great and appreciated.
Regards
Tar

This is from my airplane experience with Spektrum.

Move the Tx further away when you bind. If you can't, put the Tx behind your body, e.g., use your body as a separator. Sometimes when you are too close, the signal swamps the Rx.
