Keep in mind that I'm a heli/plane/drone guy. I have a Yeti that I use to chase dogs in the neighborhood and my Capra is my first crawler and it's not crawled yet! It's a body cage on a completed chassis that has the front and rear steering servos working. Sure, I've got the mixing programmed as I described but I may learn that it needs to be completely different whenever it is that finally try to climb over some rocks. |

Got all my cheapo parts together (except the incision OD portal gears). Just waiting on hardcore rc steering links, and I'll have everything I need to play around with rear steer. Last edited by DRED805; 12-22-2021 at 09:21 PM. | |

I had a chance to play with the incremental steering last night and really liked it. Before with the 3 position it was either center or all the way turned, and it moved fast. I had to keep my finger on the button to keep it turned. Now I can just click it a couple time to point the rear tire where I want it and it stays. I haven't been running 4ws long but one of the advantages was being able to basically choose two lines at the same time. With the way I had it I hit the switch to turn, it tuned all the way and then popped back. Often when the tire returned to center it popped me off my line. Now I just click click and get on the line and stay there. I can do minimal adjustment and it stays where I put it until I want to move it. I will have to change my style of driving. I will have to slow down when I want to do full turns to wait for the rear to steer all the way and then get back to center. BUT because it is so much more controllable, I think it will allow me to get through the gates quicker and more precise. Before I could not do last second moves with the rear steer because often it would move too much and too fast but that will no longer be a problem. ADD: It is working well but still very slow at it. If you turn to far to get your traction things happen, you don't want to happen. It defiantly makes you think and gives you time to see what is happening, but it is does take time. I will get faster with practice. I think on a big course where you have space to get the line you want it may not be as beneficially as it is on a tight more technical course. I use a 2S 2000mAh in my DX5 Pro and battery life is excellent.

I converted my DX5c over to use a Venom 2400mah lipo and battery life is no longer an issue!

You can use 2s lipo or life instead of 4AA batteries. Just take the sled out and cut the wires then add a battery conector. Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk |

My Capra came with the DX3 which had a 0, 50, 100 for the rear steer assigned to a switch. I’ve been trying to replicate this with my DX5 Pro but have only been able to set up 0, 100. I can’t imagine it can’t do what the DX3 does. The closest I have got to it is a linear setting with a 20 step which is the largest increment. Still too many switch activations to move the steering a meaningful distance. BTW, some of you guys don’t understand steps. 5 steps is not 5 steps from 0-100. It’s a very small incremental movement along the steering range. Even a step of 20 is much less than a 20% step. Something closer to 5%. |
