I'm doing an Everglades style airboat, all 3D printed. All the print files came from one (1) person and I'm following the suggestions for electronics. Lots of from people who have built the boat and used these electronics. The motor is a 9imod 3542 KV1450 outrunner and the ESC is a HW WP10BL60. The propeller will be 9x6E. Will use a 3S Lipo battery, 5000mAh 20C to start with. May have to go higher on the C rating, I'll see. The motor wires on the ESC need to be lengthened by 3"-4". The ESC uses 4mm bullet connectors and the motor uses 3mm bullet connectors. The recommendation was to change the motor wires to 4mm bullets. As I have to take the 4mm bullets off the ESC and solder on the longer wires, I was thinking of using 3mm bullets on the ESC and leave the motor as is. Note, the mounting of the ESC and motor makes it better to lengthen the ESC wires than to lengthen the motor wires. Funny thing is, the ESC uses 14AWG for the battery and motor wires and the motor "looks" like 12AWG. Question is, will this be okay? My thought is, if the motor is supplied with 3mm bullets, it would seem the ESC could be 3mm as well. This is my first time using a system like this so I have no idea what I can expect if I do it the way I'm proposing. Any comments, suggestions, criticisms are welcome. |

You'll be fine. You could even solder the wires together. Oh, and we need to see pictures, or it didn't happen.lol

Don't hold your breath for pictures. Over 210 hours of printing, four (4) prints over 24 hours each. I'm just starting to print. And I'm already out of the colors I'm using. And, one (1) of the colors is on backorder. And, and, and, nothing but excuses. Probably be a couple of months before all the parts are printed. Should have started this at the beginning of winter, not the beginning of spring. | |
