| Tekin died...ready for replacement.
Tekin Rebel 2 lost forward movement yesterday. Called Tekin and they said a transistor or two probably fried. No warranty, I've had the Rebel for almost two years and I do not want to spend $25-40 on the repair. It looks like the Mamba Max will be my replacement and eventually a Hyperion, but will the Max and Hyperion run well with 2/3A 1500 mah batteries? How about run times? (2.2 TLT, 7 cell Epic 1500 mah 2/3A batts, with Hitec 645 servo). I do not want to run sub C's and do not want the LiPo investment right now. A few weeks ago I was looking into the Mamba 25 and Revolver 2 and then a buddy mentioned the Qwark and Revolver 2 combo; would these prove to be a decent alternatives to the Max and Hyperion and which speedo do you prefer: Mamba 25 or Qwark? Is the difference between the Mamba and Qwark worth the extra cash for the Max? |

I think that the Max is worth the cash because it can be programmed by PC which, I think, would give you an advantage when crawling due to the added adjustability the PC allows.

You looking at $120.00 for the Mamba max with programming features with the 25.00 link. It can run brushed mode until you can get the funds up to get a brushless motor. The Quark is 80.00 and it has no computer programming. Revolver will cost you another 40.00. John has a new motor coming to replace the Hyperion that should be better and a little less expensive. My money would be on the Mamba max. I have the link and a laptop and we can program it at the GTG. You can wait and save your money for the new motor John is coming up with. Tom |

Thanks Tom. Wonderful day of crawling yesterday huh? It seems as if I read somewhere that it is best to use sub C's or LiPo with a Max and Hyperion or equivalent. Any comments about using 2/3 A batts with Max and Hyperion or new model?

2/3a cells work just dandy. Your runtime will vary, but 15 minutes or longer are normal. I get 30 -45 minutes to a pack when driving slow and easy, less time when I punch the throttle a lot.

Once you use the Max, you'll wonder why you waited so long to switch! |

Thanks to all. John, which motor is going to be the Hyperion replacement or equivalent; is it the Crawlmaster 3014?

Ive been looking at the Mamba Max and I cant see anywhere were it says it will run a brushed motor Also if it does run a brushed motor can I wire it up to my two 55 turn lathes? Or will I have to buy two of their motors?

It will run two brushed motors just fine. You should wire your lathe motors in parallel.

I noticed that the motor leads on the Max has female connectors for a brushless motor using a male barrel connector. While running a brushed motor, should I just remove the entire lead from the speedo and save for a Crawlmaster BL? Should I solder in a new pos and neg of the same length as the stock wires for a brushed lathe?

Just buy some 4mm barrel connectors, plug and play.
