| Titanium gear servo by hitec is it worth it
I am just wondering any one using them. Are they even worth it at $125 for 200 ounces of torque.

I went with it only cuz im runing narrowed kongs other then that I really dont see a use for it, if your runing regular tires you could probably do with out it unless you have $$ to blow on a $ 127.00 servo |

They overheat and kill the electronics. That seems to be the trend w/ most digital servos...

I'd stay away from digital servos, I bought two 5945mg's and they both died after about 2 weeks. They do get super hot if you don't give them a break to cool frequently.

WTF are you trying to say? " i hitec" are you swearing into RCC court? The paper says 2 years limlited, and ............. "Our warranty does not cover cosmetic damages, damages caused by acts of God, misuse, abuse, negligence, improper installation or damages caused by alteration by unauthorized persons. " Thats pretty broad language, but I bet Hitec will take care of it. Radios without EPA's will kill digital servos! | |

| hitec servos
I called hitec on monday about the three thay I killed and the service guy seemed amazed that there would be any problem with the titanium geared servos. I still need to send them in anyway thats a good call on the epa does that keep them from overheating? It seems that on my big trucks they get to hot to touch in just a few minutes but on my bulu tlt they work really well.

EPA=End Point Adjustment What that does is exactly what it says, it allows you to adjust the end point of the servo throw. You adjust the EPA for both left and right steering so the servo stops right when your steering knuckles cant move anymore. Doing so puts your servo at "rest", so to say, instead of of still trying to work to push it farther which in effect is like stalling a motor, therefore creating heat. So you guys that are killing these digital servos....how many DO NOT have radios with EPA adjustment? |

I don't believe the heat is a "digital" thing. I have and have seen plenty of analog servos get hot. More power= more heat. My 5995tg can draw 4 amps at lock. I think thats going to build heat with them little wires. For the guys getting 1 hour of run time on a single battery, the servos can do more work than you main motor, if that make sense. Airtronics has a aluminum case for some of their 200 oz analog servos. So heat is nothing new. If it's too hot, I think it's overwork. May not be the right servo for the job? |

My Airtronics 359Zs have an aluminum case, they get warm and don't die. I've also had good luck with Airtronics 357 and 358 servos. The 358s are torquey but the downside to them is that they have have a single plastic gear inside that likes to crap out if the servo takes a hard shot without a servo saver. |

I figure EPA would save your servo from burning up because it wont let the servo keep trying to move thus generating heat, instead it would just act like you've stopped steering and start cooling down :-P
