| Whats a good brushless motor for a 2.2?
What is a good brushless motor for a 2.2 truck? I am looking into buyin an axial AX10 when they come out, but I need to know of any good brushless motors around that work well for 2.2. On the crawler store, I found this BM9 motor, but its not a standard sized motor....but is it a really good and powerful motor for a 2.2? Any info greatly appreciated. |

What ESC do you plan to run, and what batteries do you want to run?

Having used various brushed and various brushless motors and now gone back to brushed in the same truck I can commment on the BM9. The BM9 has more power than the 65 turn lathe motor I'm currently using. There's a noticable increase in torque running the same battery count and type. It has a decently smooth power delivery once it's started up. Like other brushless motors, if you can keep the can spinning, there's good power. Here's a different kind of comparison. I have an OG Revolver. It's the strongest motor I have used, so it set my benchmark. I set my slipper clutch up to that motor and when extremely bound up, the slipper slips. With the 65 turn brushed motor, I swear to all of you, the slipper has only slipped once. Otherwise the motor just stalls out. Sad really. Well the BM9 can get that slipper to slip nearly as much as the Revolver. The comparison is with the same gearing, and same battery. So, the BM9 has good power, almost OG Revolver power. Not quite, but fairly close. Is it good for a 2.2? Yes. |

I'm running both motors offered by "The Crawler Store" with a Mamba 25 I have had no issues with either. I can set the 25 to deliver more power than I need with either motor and they are priced to sell. I'm a newbie and proud of it I went brushless from the start so I have no relevant information on brushed crawler motors. But I'm no new comer to RC and changing brushes is just one less thing I don't need to do. Just about all forms of RC are going bushless I thing the brushed motor is at the end of it's evolution as the RC power source of choice. :-P Last edited by Stormin2u; 07-22-2007 at 09:36 AM. |

I am running a Mamba 25/Crawlmaster in my 2.2 and LOVE it. This thing is a beast for a 2.2. More than enough power on 7.4 volts to stand a touch higher gear for a good amount of wheelspeed. Enough power to snap the R2 main shaft clean in two. |
