Default motor running HOT

ok maby this should have been asked in the "newbie" area but it is electronics related. I'm running a integy 55t motor off a TK2 speed control and after running for a bit the motor is prety hot to the touch infact the paper wraping on the motor is actualy starting to discolor in a area near the "rear" of the motor.

my question is, is this normal ??

TIA

it is not normal. Check your gearmesh, and also make sure that everything rolls super easy with the pinion removed. Also make sure the brushes are free moving and not hanging on the brush hood.

you can also cut the body to ensure proper air flow. my WK was running hot on NiMh batteries so I cut the windshield out and now I can run 2+ hours straight without the ESC or motor getting anywhere near hot to the touch.

but thats just my $.02
