Default How do i change brushless shaft direction?

How do i change an outrunner brushless motor from a plane-firewall mount to a standard mount for a car??

I've pulled apart the motor, and removed the grub screw, but the shaft wont move from the outer casing.

suggestions???

A pic would be nice so we can see exactly what you have. Usually you have to tap them to get them to move the first time.

You will need to take the bell off the motor and tap the shaft through, it is a press fit. You will need to file or grind a flat spot for the set screw as well.

Fantastic guys... I didnt want to go belting into a motor before i knew that was the 'approved method'

Now, jrh.. grinding a spot for the set screw... i presume your taking about the set screw on the motor endbell that holds the shaft??... because i think i will also need a flat spot for the pinion.

btw.. its an Emax BL2215/15... it is SOO clicky when you rotate it.. and it has bearings front and back.
i can get some pics if u want.

You will need a flat spot for both the pinion and the set screw on the endbell. If the shaft is 3mm just add a wrap or two of aluminum foil to shim it up.

.. i just hammered it through to flish with the endbell.. and its still just as tight as it was when i bought it.... do you think i still need to punch it all the way through and file a flat spot on it??
