Default Stock motor for crawling

I was looking to gain some wheel speed out of my comp rig and threw a 27t brushed motor in my WK tuber W/R2Disco tranny. And compared to my 65t lathe and 8t pinion setup (SLOW) I think it was just what ive been looking for. On 7.2 volts this setup gives really good speed and smooth enough low end. I cant find a negative..... Any thoughts or experience with this setup??

Thanks

The issue is heat when you are bound up. You would almost need to run the 8t pinion to keep it spinning fast enough so it doesn't stall and overheat.

Comped it this weekend with a 5th overall -5, -8, 13. i am super happy with the setup. R2D with the 8t pinion is perfect. Great wheel speed good low speed control and plenty of power. This is my perminant setup.. The motor is a stock silver clod armature in a regular racing stock motor can. Think outside the "lathe" box

yeah, holmes is right, the magets in the brushed motors can only take about 300* before it just craps out, I would keep an eye on the temps on both the motor and the esc, if they are getting excessivly hot, i would revise your setup, the slower your try to run a low turn motor, the more the esc builds up heat.

Gearing with this setup is so low that heat is not an issue thus far

yup, especially if you're running the stock WK ESC (not sure if you are). I ran the 27T stocker for a while, liked the wheel speed, but any time I'd crawl, the thing kept overheating and shutting off, my 55T never overheats anymore.
