| Which servo are you killing?
Seems the rear would go first, but I don't know. Do you keep killing one and not the other, or .... what? |

Took the servo saver off the front HiTech 645, first trek out, 5 minutes into it, front went full lock left, and stays there. Though it will turn to the right.

| I've killed two 645MG's, both were on the front. I've stripped four sets of gears, two in the front, two in the back. |

I just hurt a Futaba 3305 today. It went, "Bbbbuuuurppp" and went full left lock coming off of a drop. So I opened up the full locked HiTec 645. The orange arrow points to the little post on the gear. I removed the center gear, and rotated everything so the little post lines up with the center posts of all the gears. Seems to work fine. Is skipping teeth something that happens? (breaking in the new camera) |

Hey guys. Whenever you break one of your Hitec's just send it in to them for repair. Be sure to include your return address and a brief description of the problem. In a couple weeks you'll have it back good as new. Depending on the problem they'll either fix it or just send you a new one. I'm not joking. I've sent in over 40 servos for repair over the years and never had to pay for repair once. Damn fine company.

I've killed a few gearsets in the 645MGs. I've killed the single plastic gear in the Airtronics 358. Apparently it's in there to be the weak link. Luckily that single gear is available from Airtronics. As of now I have a pair of Airtronics 359Zs that I love. Beat them to death for over a year and have yet to have a problem out of them. |

I've burned up two 945MG's and two 5945MG's, I haven't stripped any gears. I probably will now that I said it. |

Just tonight my other Futaba 3305 became super hot, smelled funny, and stopped working. I think I should put my servo saver back on... |

My two year old Hitec 625MG finally kicked the bucket the other day.........although it WAS put into a water logged coma at least 3 times, had the crap beat out of it in my Pede, and lately got an even worse beating in my T2. Still, that's the only servo I've killed........my Clod's XTM's are making funny noises though........

I should add two more HiTec 645s to my list. Both on the front, the gear stripped. I really should put the damn servo saver back on. Almost 2 hours a day, about 5 days. I gotta email HiTec about free replacements. I'll be back... |

Let us know what Hitec says. I am going to be running 2 of those soon so I'd like to know what they say about it.

Well, I used that other handy device we have, the telephone. I called them. The service person said, as long as they are under warranty, they will most likely replace the faulty gear. If they are not under warranty, I will be charged approximately $11 for replacement gears. After reading this I'm not too sure: Our warranty does not cover cosmetic damages, damages caused by acts of God, misuse, >>>abuse<<<, negligence, improper installation or damages caused by alteration by unauthorized persons. They'd be giving out gearsets like halloween candy. :? Anyone wanna call HiTec and see if they say the same thing? 858.748.8440 |

| $18 for one dang gear... In case anyone cared. I'm going to send the spare servo in, and I'll get back to this when, or if, anything happens. |

I stripped 4 servos in 4 days, 2 front and 2 back. all hi-tec hs645mg. They are junk if you ask me! I then switched to the airtronics 359. I have had really good luck with these so far. A little pricey up front, but if the last they will pay for themselves! They have already lasted 4 times longer than the longest hi-tec servo i have had! not using savers!! http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXVE87&P=ML http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXCHB2&P=ML I have heard the new tg series hi-tec servos are supposed to be the cats ***! From what i understand they have titanium gears, again pretty pricey but you shouldn't have to worry about them! Anyone use them yet? let us know how the work!! I got an email back from HiTec. It said to send it in for repair, along with an attached service form pdf to be filled out and included. I've already disassembled the servo, so I'll put it back together, and send it in eventually. Hope that doesn't void anything. Later. |
