I'll be interested to see whats recommended here. I have the same problem. I seem to get about 3-4 runs on a motor if I'm mudding a lot. I've been using Method 23 or 25t doubles. Those have held up best for me so far, but still not long enough.

like what do you mean. does the mud get in the motor and clog it up or something else? if so why not put some kid of water proofing to it?i.e saran rap around it. or small bottle or something.

Stock 540 silver can, they never seem to die!
Stock silver cans are like 27t, and don't have all
that open endbell like higher end motors.
Plus they are cheap or free.

yep silver cans man and mudd
they lack the power of lathe out there but have more wheel speed 550 silver cans should have more torque and I think JRH sells one for like 7 bucks should be fine in the poop..
they still dont last forever but will way out last any open endbell motor.

yeah the mud got in the motor and it dies, i give throttle and force the tires to move it will get contact or whatever then start again. this mud had no water in it, as yall may or may not know, this truck is no stranger to submarine conditions. but pure mud is what got me.

i currently have an integy 55t

Those 55t just don't cut it in the mud.

Buy a cheap 540 silver can and see the difference.
The one I'm running came out of my old clodbuster.
I run:
Newer Pede Tranny
Stock Tamiya Silver Can Motor (From a Clod)
Stock Spur Gear with 10 tooth pinion
Associated AI Reverse ESC (From a TC4)
3000mah 6-cell batt. pack

Throw in more batteries and watch it really hurl mud.
I've run up to 12 on a stock 540 motor.

I had the same silver can in my boys pede for almost a hole summer before it gave up the battle. that tranny sits low and was just under mud water and snow. I tried a open endbell 21 turn spec and it ran five minutes he jumped it into some mud filled the brush hood with mud and bent it. I put a silver can right back in. if I wouldnt have stole his tranny he would still be running it

Yeah, I'm going along with the rest and suggesting a cheap can motor. An outrunner would keep running, but would you really want to ruin a more expensive motor? Maybe make a shield box for your motor too, that thick mud will clog about anything.

You could. Clear packing tape would work as long as it didn't overheat and break down the glue.

back in the day i rember kyosho usa-1's having a plastic motor cover i dont know if that was a kyosho part or not but i have seen it. you could probally modify one of the little plastic containers motors come it to slide over can. i would worry about heat but being in mud and water should help.

Take a piece of scrap lexan and wrap it around the motor and zip tie it.
I'll shield the motor from mud and since it's in the mud and water cooling isn't a real issue.

What you want to cover is the slots.
But I don't even do that and they run for a long long time.

way back in the day we used foam to cover our motors on clods and dirt oval cars. it lets the motor breathe and would keep most of the mud out also go with a sealed 540 or 550 silver can on a lil higher voltage they will fling some serious mud if your oldschool and know a few tuning tips for the old silver cans
