| Great Planes LIPOS from TOWER
Any body ever try the Great Planes Lipos that Tower Hobbies sells? They seem like they have a great price, but thats what scares me. Please let me know if you've tried them and how they worked. |

The great planes Lipos are certainly decent, they will work for crawling. Kokam has great cells too, my kokam packs have lasted a long long time.

| I knew you will say some.. do KoKam is a way to go? I know I just wanted to pickup locally so I got Thunder Power which is light and works good with my rig too but next one I like to use KoKam and other. Castel Creation only like KoKam when I was chatting with my next project..

If it is a slow RC, just about anything works. If you are going for all out speed, then Kokam or thunder power (or neuenergy) all have great track records for long lasting and well balanced packs. Castle recommends Kokam because in very demanding situations they hold up very well. Great burst rates, low resistance, and top notch quality control keep the packs consistent. |

Nope, I only discharge with my vehicle and charge with the charger. No need since it balances at the same time. Lipo doesn't get a memory so there is no need to discharge.

buy whatever you can get a good deal on. the simple fact is there are only 3 plants in the world manufacturing lipo cells. so whether it says thunderpower or hextronic on the side your getting the same battery. |

Enerland, Hextronic, and kokam are the manufacturers that I am aware of. Enerland cells are used in vislero, polyRC, thunderpower, and neuenergy cells. I prefer Enerland or Kokam cells.

Im running two different lipo packs right now. Both made by great planes. One is a electrifly 11.1 volt 910 mah 15c. And the other is 11.1 volt 1500 mah 8c. Both work great. I was worried about the 1500 pack but havent had any problems yet. |

| NEVER NEVER NEVER use anything other than the vehicle to discharge your lipo. If you discharge them farther than 3.0 volts per cell, than you will probably have a fairly usless pack. This is why newer speed controls come with the lipo cutoff function. the discharge function on chargers is for nicd and nimh batteries. You eather have to use a seperate balancer, or a balance charger to balance a lipo, they will not balance on their own.

Mostly for storage. You don't want to fully charge a lipo before letting it sit more than a month. 4v per cell is more like it.
