I'm running a Traxxas RX (#2215) with my TQ-3 TX and have my CC BEC set at 6.6v for my Tower Pro. No problems so far and I have every intention of jumping to 7.2v when I go Lipo. Glad you asked this question though as I hadn't consider the fact that my RX might fry if I do that. Guess I might have to step up in the TX/RX world.

As far as wiring it, I believe you will need to get a BEC that you can set for 7.2v.

Receivers can handle the voltage just fine 22.0 or 6 volts they don't mind. Servo's in general will handle 6 volts but the more you put to them the shorter the motor life in them. And over 6 volts on a digital servo is really not a good idea.

So even the receivers that say they are rated for 4.8 to 6v can have higer volts run through them? If that's the case, I'm a happy guy right now.

yes thats basically what i did

i made up a adapter plug thing that i plug in between the battery and esc that plugs into the receiver to power it and the servo's then removed the red wire from the esc

Those listed limits are to protect the servo's. We have receiver packs with servo plugs right on them ready to go. I use a 7.4 volt 3300 mAh pack in one of my larger airplanes.

Interesting....

I sent Traxxas an email about my 2215 running at 6.6v and my desire to run it at 7.2. They said it is only rated to have 6v run through it so I'm already pushing it and advised to not run it at 7.2.

Course, they are probably just covering their butts.

Either way, I'm probably gonna pickup a second unit and try it at 7.2v. I'll let yall know if it blows up or not

I added a Deans connector to my BEC and used a Deans parallel, BEC on one side, battery on the other. Or you can just tie into the battery with the BEC

Sorry, meant the ESC side, not the battery

I'm not seeing what that has to do with the question.
