I love my lipos but, I don't have an idea how they are assembled... Is it possible for a battery company to make a different layout on a 3 cell lipo? I was thinking one cell on each knuckle and one one the servo???? |

Yes its possible. Each cell is a flat rectangle with two tabs (positive and negative). All you have to do is find the size you want and go for it. I think Maxamps has individual cells with copper tabs for sale. EDIT: Heres a 2100 cell, probably too big but you can get a good idea http://www.maxamps.com/Lipo-2100-Cell.htm |

Do you have to worry about heat while soldering damaging the cells?

With exception to the copper tabbed cells, you will need pot metal or aluminum solder to assemble a lipo pack. How do you plan to fit a lipo pack on a knuckle? |

I'm just thinking out loud Is there a reason no one has offered custom packs?

If you only have a three cell pack, it is much easier to keep it all together and out of harms way IMO. Even if it offered a marginal CG advantage to split them, I would keep my packs together and just use lead to counterweight against the pack.

Jason of MaxAmps agrees... "It's doable but the only problem is the amount of wire needed to connect both the cells and the balance taps and then the main leads. It would look like some one puked on the axle. I really don't see any benefit though. The cells don't weigh that much so It's not like your going to be spreading a large amount around. My current set-up I run a 3S 1550 with a 55T lathe motor the pack sits on the rear axle and I get over an hour of run time. If I need more weight on the front I switch to a 2/3 8 cell saddle pack up front on the axle plates." |

I have been running an 8 cell saddle on my front axle for weight, and the 3 cell 2100 pack on top of the ax-10 battery platform for power At the same time.

No, only the lipo is connected to the ESC. The saddle pack is just for dead weight.
