Not trying to jack a thread but it looked like a good place to ask this: Ok - question about the JR DS8611A compared to the Hitec HSR-5995TG. Link in case anyone wants to look: http://www.hitecrcd.com/Servos/hs5995TG.htm The JR is 282oz. at 6.0 and the Hitec is 333oz. at 6.0 The JR has a speed of .18 at 4.8 so whey you bump it to 6.0 it will probably be about the same as the Hitec which is .15. The JR is 2.24oz. and the Hitec is 2.18oz and the physical size is about the same - well close enough. Which one would you use? The price is about the same for either one. I am looking for a replacement for a TXT based crawler and have come across both of these. I have the Hitec one in another crawler but run a receiver pack for it so there is the added weight and wiring of that. Would the JR be fine without the addition of a receiver pack? Thanks, Ed |

The new Hitecs have a titanium gear train. Not sure if it's all marketing, but it sounds tough In my experience, the high zoot servos perform better with RX packs over the BEC, or at least the BEC in an EVX or Super Rooster. And definately better with 2+ of them dogs on board. I have 2x Air 94758 on the front of my rig (and one in the back ) PICTURE 400 oz of pleasure. |

to the same two servos. The y-harness fried and fried one of my servos. Do you use a HD y-harness? Do you have a rx-pack y to the servos before the reciever? Please help me out before I burn up another $100.00.

I built a custom wiring harness using 18 ga. wire meant for 1/18 kits (I have a few of those too). I wired from the RX pack to the RX. Then from the RX a 3-way splitter to all three servos. It's a Novak XXtra. The traces on the XXtra circuit board are pretty beefy as it can support 5 servos (it's a 5 channel rx), so wiring straight from the RX pack to the servos seemed overkill. And it works DAMN good. If the front end is stuck it will wag the rear end like a dogs tail.

I made a wire harness that takes the signal from the servos and that goes to the reciever and then there is a plug (and switch) going to the RX battery. Looked like a good idea on paper but have not had a chance to try it out. Was figuring that the RX power would go to the servos and the signal wire gets what it needs from the reciever. Guess we will see when it getts running. Ed

The only problem that I have heard of with the titanuim gears is that they will break under alot of vibration. Had a friend loose a $12000 plane due to 2 stripped gears. For what its worth guys.
