| Servo Winch on the Sendero
Anyone out there installed a servo winch on their truck yet? I'm looking at the DIY sewing bobbin design and was wondering if anyone felt they needed extra bracing. I was watching a video tutorial on youtube on how to make your own servo winch, while the user was installing it on a different truck, he mentioned attaching a brace point to the other side of the drum/bobbin so it was supported. In his setup, however, he had the winch mounted on some custom bracket. On the Sendero there's obviously a spot for it next to the steering winch. Has anyone used any additional bracing or are they just mounting it with the typical four screws and running as-is? Is additional bracing needed? What about some type of lead arm to keep the wire from hopping off the drum? Just curious to see what others have set up for theirs before I get too deep in mine. |

I’ve got a Reef’s 422 winch in mine, using the hard plastic mount. I’m not sure you would need an additional brace, but maybe it would be worth looking at once of the STRC or Samix mounts that are made of metal.

Shouldn't need extra bracing. You may need to space the servo winch up off the mount for clearance below depending on the actual servo winch and spool used. The Reefs spool is pretty wide so it hangs down low and interferes with the suspension unless the servo is spaced upward some, at least on my truck. |

Oh, good point on that Garyk! I've seen that wider spool and I can see how that might hang up underneath. Thanks!

I am using the powershift PST-300 servo winch instead of the sewing bobbin included on this, I am using this Servo Winch Wheel that only cost 2 USD |

Thanks for the tips! Did you buy that spacer or make it yourself? | |

I knew I had heard of one of these. Thank you! I was looking for them on Amazon and didn't run across any. Looks like I may need to broaden my horizon to other outlets other than Amazon.

just make sure you get a nice 40 amp controller if you get a KMS. that's the only reason mine doesn't work. i keep spending my winch money on new rigs lol
