Default What servo are you running in your Enduro?

The servo in my Trailrunner quite literally went up in a plume of smoke. Needless to say I'm in the market for a new one.

What servo do you guys and gals run in your Enduros?

Since mine hasn't had many of its mods installed yet, a cheap DS3218 has been doing just fine - beating on it pretty hard, too!

When I built my Enduro kit last year, I went with a Reefs 444. Figured it has to be good for the price, I was very underwhelmed. I run a Savox 1210 SG in my 1/8th scale bashers, and should have just put one in my Enduro too. A lot less expensive than the Reefs as well.
So when I built my Gatekeeper kit a couple months ago, you guessed it, I installed a Savox 1210 SG and it out performs the Reefs. If 80 bucks is in your budget for a servo, IMO you cant go wrong with the Savox.

I hear ya...

Got the DS3225 in my Defender TRX-4, and a plain-jane DS3218 (non-Pro) has been installed in my Ascender K-10 with loads of brass and steel upgrades for a couple years.

I do use a Holmes Hobbies SHV500 v1 in my Bomber, as well as a ProModeler PM470.

I've used a Reefs 555, a HH SHV500V3 and now have a Savox 1210 in it.

I run a Savox 1230 in my Enduro, class 1 and a class 2 comp build. I have run a few Savox 1212 in other RCs (the 1212 are strong but heat up get stiff and die). I use BEC with the proper voltage AND AMPERAGE. As you use the Savox on the trail or in comp they seem to loose some power after a few minutes of heavier use. I will never get another Savox.

I also have had a 3 bros g11 now a g13 and a Holmes v2 direct power in other builds. They are MUCH MUCH MUCH better. They do not loose there power like the Savox do.

I would strongly recommend a direct power servo. From here on out I will not buy any more Savox servos. My strongest recommendation would be the 3Brothers.

Currently running a Reefs 444 in my class 1 Enduro. Started with a Savox, which was extremely noisy and didn’t have the power either.

Sadly as with any hobby it can be expensive to buy a better quality of anything. I tend to resort to the inexpensive of everything.

For me it is the right now investment not the long term investment. I can afford to buy a $20 dollar servo now and replace it four times when it burns out, I cannot afford to buy and $80 servo now and not have to worry about it for years.

It is my approach to being able to sustain myself in this hobby.

Typically this is true, you get what you pay for. That said, my experience with the DS3218 servo has left me impressed. I have, at times, been disappointingly unimpressed with servos that cost me 3x as much. Value makes me happy and keeps me coming back.

Anyway, I hear ya. This is an expensive hobby if you get the bug for it. Finding ways to make it relatively economical has actually been part of the enjoyment for me. To that, I am grateful for all of the tips and tricks that I have picked up off of RCC over the years. Cheers to all on this site who make that happen
