Default Reign Widemouth Berg Build

So I admit it, I have a problem, I'm addicted, I can't stop. I seen the new Berg/OCM builds and I had to have a set of axles for myself. I ordered a kit figuring I could some of the other stuff.

I didn't care for the chassis or the setup so I figured I'd use my favorite chassis, the new Reign Products Widemouth. I built up an axial with one and was very happy with it.

I wasn't that impressed with the links so I used Traxxas 5519 for the lower links and 2445 for the upper links. It was a little short still so I replaced 1/2 the rod ends on the rear lower links with a longer rod ends and it ended up at 12.45" overall. I used the upper rears to clock the axle some. I don't know if I am going to clock the gear box or not yet.

For shocks I used Traxxas XL big boar shocks that I had around. I was going to change the springs back to standard but the 1/18th scale springs seem to work great so why not.

For electronics Jp's Rc's 35t Warriors, Tekin FX-R esc of course with CC BEC, and 3s Maxamp 2100 Lipo.

Pics, its not done yet, I'm waiting for the dud switch and I've got to mount electronics but that didn't stop me from running it today. I will say I was impressed, extremely impressed.

One of the things I like the most is that I was able to increase ground clearance, keep links level, and the COG hasn't seemed to have been affected.

The Widemouth Berg, bad picture but 2.75"

Widemouth Axial

Width with VF Wheelie King offset wheels is identical to what I have been running, 10.2". Oh yeah, and the wheels that come with it are perfect offset for Axial axles.

More to come

Hmmm Proline's don't have that issue.

Nice rig Zach. Looking forward to running against it.

I just need to get it finished and get more run time on it now. It was different to not have any torque twist at all, not that its even an issue with this chassis but there will always be some hint of it. If I get everything done I think i will be running this at the comp this weekend.

Yeah, I know. The hard compound of the PL's make them tougher to puncture.

Man Ive been out of crawling too long. Need to get back in the swing of things. Last time I was crawling the Clod axles were the big thing. This axle looks very promissing.

If you have a shaftie set-up with the same chassis, you'll realize just how much it has. I built mine almost identical to my TLT based rig, and its amazing the difference when you can run the two trucks back to back thru the same line. I didn't think mine torque twist bad either until I built one with the OCM axles.

I decided to run it today at the 801rcc comp and damn did it pay off. I was a little hesitant but I got some good run time and felt pretty good about it.

I had the low score on 4 out of 5 courses, the other I had an unlucky roll The final scores aren't up but I should be up there.

In any case, I could not be happier with it. It performed flawlessly and even PinchFlat and Kaetwo are sold and are converting.

The combination of the chassis and axles are really unstopable

I still need to post up finished pics, they will be coming soon, and some pics of UTRCTC

SWEET CHASSIS!!! And yeah, I'm glad I drove it AFTER the comp & not before, I would have been longing for Berg during all my runs if I had tried it before.

I don't run bent links because they bend easier if I fly off a cliff, which I do too frequently

Fixed to low, thanks. You are right that it was best you didn't run it before. Its just to good and you would have thrown yours. By the way, I see Kaetwo has his ordered, when is it your turn.

Franky - I have personally destroyed Losis with my newage/berg/wtf. I am sure that Proline tires would rip also but they don't work as well as the losi or panthers around here so I will never get the chance to find out.

I used the Panthers in the comp and they worked great! I think Panthers have a little better forward bite but there are a couple of "canyons" where the comp was where the Losi's seem to be better.
