Default Team RCC Berg: Nluv's

Finally getting around to building a Berg axle'd rig. I think I have all my ideas in line so time to start building!

FYI if you order the axle kit you wont recieve any of the servo mounts. No big deal for me I will fab something up and I am sure others will be doing the same

Parts list so far:
Berg axles
2 55t lathes
mamba max
hitec 5998
castle bec
losi shocks
Mayhem Berg offset wheels

Chassis is still in the early stages of planning. I have a set of blackjack plates that will work great for now. Thanks Franky Rizzo!

My mess from tonight

And the actual hardware included with the axle kit

I used the same lower links with my Berg/BJ setup.

Have fun with that servo mount.

Finally got to sit down and work on this last night. Almost a roller, still need to figure out steering but I have an idea

Started by trying a chassis design I have always wanted to do on a 2.2 but it wasn't working out so well so I followed Jason's idea and used the stock AX-10 chassis. I knew there was a good use for it! Didn't need any pics of Jason's setup, this was too easy! Made my own skid and got the losi shocks mounted.

This will be my first comp rig using shocks this long and this much ground clearance. Its going to take some getting used to.

I think I am going to leave the front. Having all that weight that much lower is a huge stability advantage. Not only that, unclocked it still has more clearance than my tlt axles.

If it becomes a problem I will probably clock the front 15*

For a servo mount, I made a U bolt out of 6-32 all thread and ran it through the bottom of a piece of aluminum angle with the servo shape cut out of the vertical face. Then used the hole in the top of the axle link mount to keep it from moving side to side. I haven't had any issues with it yet.

Pictures explain it better...

Thanks SVEN. Thats very similar to what I had in mind.

Did you figure out why your axles are so loud? Mine SCREAM at low rpm

pinion gear mesh will cause a lot of noise , when i had the motor mounted behind the axle during a steep climb i slid back down rather hard hitting the motor and it shoved the pinion into the gear causing all sorts of loudness .

i found that playing with gear mesh really changes the harmonics and tone the crawler makes

What gear pinions are you running? I agree about the mesh though, I think with metal gears the spacing can be larger (which should make them quieter).
