Default Reign Widemouth/Berg Super for Nats

First off, the wheels in the pics are only to keep things together.

Since I'm going to Nats in super I figured I'd better figure something out to step up my game. I have loved my Widemouth Berg 2.2. Its easily the best crawler I have ever driven and I have had a lot of time on it lately so I'm just going to build a bigger one.

I haven't liked really big supers, so this one is going to be right around 16" with a 6-6.5" tire. I'm still working on tires. I have a set of Giant Tracs that I might use but I have loved the Panthers so much that I'm either going to make some 40 series Meat Grinders or Max size Cougars.

As far as the chassis goes, its so versital that you could build just about anything out of it. I wanted to keep things really narrow for better clearance.

Onto the specs
Reigh Widemouth Chassis, final prototype
Berg Axles
Customer lower links, I've used the lower links out of the kit with traxxas ends for the upper
Hand Wound 45t motors
Hitec 5995tg servos
Tekin FX-R esc's
Clodmodracing Prototype steering/dig computer
3s Maxamps Lipo
Castle BEC
Spektrum DX3r
Traxxas Big bore shocks, limited internally and externally

Definitely not done but its progress

The only real breakage issues have been the outer axles shafts, replace them with Axials and that problem is pretty much solved. I guess you can break anything though, I'm willing to give it a try though

It's been a thought in my mind, great to see you do it first I would say Max Mashers would be da bomb on those axles. I personally did'nt like the GT's. Cant wait to see how this works out

I've been thinking about doing this since the first time I drove my 2.2 berg. My fallback for tires with be 40s Mashers narrowed. I still need to figure out some adapters though. I got the RC4wd 12-17mm adapters but the nuts weren't long enough so they don't work. Integy makes some I might try.

I've just been so happy with the Panther tires I have been running that I want to give them a try. Why won't anyone come out with some descent tires?

I made some tires for it this morning. Cougars with Max sized wheels. They ended up being 6.4" tall, pretty narrow but I think they will work well. I'm a little worried about my track width right now, I'm at 11.5". It might work well, might not, I guess I'll find out soon.

Or, how about this?!

Pro-Line Cheyennes with RCP wheel adapters and Moab XL's.

No idear what the trackwidth would be. The RCP adapters were designed for the Pro-Line 23mm beadlocks though. It sure would be pretty.

Edit: The Cheyennes are a bit wide, the Commandos might be a better choice on a Berg.

Right now I have the Thundertech 12-14mm adapters. I'm going to give it a good try first. If it is too narrow, I will probably get a wider offset wheel The cog will be so low though that it might not be an issue.

Thanks for the suggestions though.

I'm just glad you're doing this to begin with. I'm going to start a Berg Super soon and there aren't alot of Berg Supers out there yet. I'm going to be going with a Death Metal Garage Super chassis and the Berg axles.

I've got it together. I had the day off so about 5 hours later I am done There's a whole lot of wiring going on in this thing. I finished up the other tires and started messing with the electronics.

With the new Punk RC Steering/Dig computer I can do almost anything a stick can do but with my DX3r, 4WS, Crab, rear lock, and dig.

So far so good, I'm running no weight (its lighter than my 2.2) but I think I will be adding some soon. I have mixed feelings about the width, on one hand being this narrow will make it easy to get through gates, on the other though, it feels slightly unstable, although that might just be me. Time will tell, and I'm sure I will be adjusting stuff as I go but for now it works.

Yeah, I asked because it looks narrower than the 11.5" mentioned. 11.5" is what my stock Berg is at and these pics look narrower for some reason.

Thanks, I have a thing for white bodies. I don't know what it is, I use to fight it and try other stuff but now I have given up and just do white. I noticed though it keeps things surprizingly cooler inside there on a hot day.

Thanks. I'm going to have to do something different with wheels/tires. These actually work very well but its at least an inch too narrow so I'm going to be making something else.

Hint, hint, too bad there aren't companies making new super tires...
