Default Kaetwo's Reign RC Chaos Berg.....

I figured that I would jump on this fad that is Berg, using the new Reign RC Chaos chassis. It's funny that I've come full circle from 5 years ago by running one of these rigs, and I have to say I love it!!!! I was able to take a first place win at the last 801 comp here in Utah with 3 perfect courses and 4 reverses on the last course, and this was my first time driving it

I'm using the new Reign Chaos chassis that Pinch developed and love all the mounting options it has. It's easy to build up, very light and best of all it looks great! I still need to splash some black paint on it but for the most part it's ready to go. Another setup that's completely different than what I'm use to is Zach's shock setup. It's a killer setup and works very well. I can't explain it but it works. I'm also trying out a new set of rims. Meyhem berg off-set rims with competition rims. They look great and are a perfect weight and off-set. I have a set of his new competition rims coming, so that I can weight the front a little differently. We'll see how those workout. For the rest of the build I use the usual goods, Losi Claws (Amazing!!!!), Losi Grappler body, Hitec Robotics servo, Spektrum radio gear and of course the always sensational Tekin FX-R ESC.

Enough pimping, onto the pics!

In the last 10 seconds since I posted I've added Axial stub axles, FubarCrawlers lockouts (amazing precision) and finally changed the dig from a single switch to double (what a ton of fun to drive with!!!!). I never would have thought a front and rear burn option would help as much as it did. I find myself working the 3-way switch as much as I work the steering wheel This however come at a price though. I go through a set of Losi tires every 3-4th outing

I'll post up some updated pics this evening

Thanks again!!!

Alright it's been 15 seconds since the last post and I decided to mod the steering setup. I noticed that after a day of driving that my servo mounts where pretty scratched up. I knew that I could mount the servo better than stock so I took a look at the thickness of the tubes to see if there was some potential there. Turns out that the tubes are almost 4mm thick

I also noticed in taking the front trans apart that I had a bunch of paper/cardboard in there. Not a little bit but alot!!!

Here is what I came up with.

I see your are using RC18 springs on the outside of the shocks, are you using any internally? What weight oil are you using? Nice looking crawler .

Yup! I'm not using any interal springs and I'm using 70wt oil

It's an odd setup for sure but it works really well. Zach has been perfecting this setup for years and this setup just seems to suit the bergs really well.

What about the shock piston, is it stock? Is it two hole or three hole? Are you limiting travel at all? It does sound like an interesting setup.

Looking good. What was the deal with the paper/cardboard? Keep us updated on that steering setup.

Oh you want the dirty details......Here goes.

Traxxas Big Bores (XL) 4" eye to eye
Limited Downtravel Rear - .125"
Limited Downtravel Front - .250"
3 Hole Pistons .056 hole I think is stock (Front and Rear)
No external limiters (Springs do that for me)
70 Weight Losi Oil
Blue Front Springs
Gold Rear Springs
Ti-Nit. Shock Shafts
Stock Traxxas Rod Ends

What I end up with this setup, is the perfect amount of articulation, 3" of ground clearance (using the Chaos chassis on hole #4). The suspension is slow enough that I can float gaps but fast enough that I can get the suspension to drop very easily.

My weight bias on the rig is 50/50 right now but I am going to try some heavier rims in the front so I may go to a #2 piston or up the shock weight 10-15

Hope this helps.

I have no idea. I had a clicking noise in the trans and thought that a screw was backing out but when I opened it up I had all this cardboard floating around in there. It was a lot too. That's what got me looking into the tube thickness and the steering mod.

More to come

That steering is very similar to mine, just make damn sure your screws are short enough, I've got a nice groove in my inner shaft from a test run on my steering setup. I like the shock setup too, if I ever run a longer shock ill try that.

So Pinch developed the chassis
and Zach developed the suspension setup.
What exactly have you done here besides copy those guys?
And you beat them both at the comp.

Seriously, great looking setup Kaetwo and good thinking on the DD switch. Front and rear digs sure are fun. Keep up the 15 second mods.

I forgot to mention that Pinch came up with a cool switch-a-ma-jig too :-(

I have an idea for the skid that would be invented by just me :-) That's it! I'll make custom skid.
