Default Harley's High Steer Knuckles

High Steer Knuckles

I just wanted to show you all something we have been working on at TCS. These are not yet scheduled for production. DO NOT CALL, PM, or EMAIL about availability (I don't care how good a friend you think you are )!

I have been working on these for quite awhile and just wanted to post them up to give you guys a glance as to what is coming sometime in the future. These give you the option of doing a BTA setup the RIGHT WAY (we don't cut corners on our products). I shared these with the OCM/Berg crowd yesterday so I figured I better let you all in on it as well.

I didn't take pictures while they were bolted on my AX-10, so you will have to deal with them on my OCM for now. I will get pictures on the AX-10 ASAP.

Look great, good job. I have designed some that are close to your design, just have not machined a set yet. I will be using 7075 T6 as 6061 will be to soft for the arm. Hope they work well for you.

Have you done a stress modeling simulation on the arm to conclude this? I have not seen any results that show me that these will bend under normal abuse (not just normal driving). Maybe you are using a thinner arm or have a tighter radius. It would take a very hard hit to bend these.

Wow, that's awesome, and looks great!

Will this be the first BTA steering mod for the AX10? I thought I had seen another BTA mod somewhere else here a while ago, but it might have been for a different crawler.

No, ckrc already makes a bta kit for the ax10 but this isn't a kit. Its a pair of knuckles. I don't know why these weren't made back when we all ran TLTs, its a simple idea. I'd love to have a set when they hit production.

maybe no one wanted to take the risk of making a unidirectional nuckle. but i would definatly be on the list when/if these go into production.

thanks for making some REAL high clearance knuckles

it would add a crap load of clearance even if your not running BTA.

How's the FEA look when they're subjected to a shock load from a fall, tumble, etc?

I prefer 7075 to 6061 any day. Sadly my wallet doesn't always agree. I know 7075 also cuts/machines way better.

Harley I see you have the dreaded Panther tire rips from the Berg. Looks like these will have the same issue, have to tested them to not do that? Could they be made more Berg/Panther friendly?

Lots of pretty colors

They did very well in actuality. I ran the simulation assuming that nothing else would flex (servo movement, servo horn deflection, tie rod bending, drag link bending) and simulated them to the yield point. I estimate the force would have equated to a distance substantial distance.

Those rips were caused by the stock knuckles. I have yet to rip a tire with the HS knuckles, my thoery is it is due to the arm being high on the tire sidewall where the is less tire flex.
