Default My 2nd hand BERG

I bought this from a guy who "needed money". He had it set up pretty poorly. Even with my very noob crawling skills, it was apparent it needed some help. So, I did a LOT of reading, a LOT of asking questions, some practicing & tuning, then decided on a setup. And, here it is...

Berg Axles
Kamikaze Delrin Zero Chassis
Custom Delrin Skid & Links - (Custom Delrin axle skids to be made)
Traxxas GTR Shocks, 80% droop with internal springs
Custom shock extensions, ride height 2.25" at rest 3.75" full extension
Panther Cougar Tires on Mayhem Delrin wheels
Bug Baja body - Pro-Line (to be Painted SOON)
Mamba Max ESC with Castle BEC
Simple Front DIG
3S 2500 Lipo
55T Integy Lathes - 13T front, 12T rear
Hitec 5955TG - Lowered mount & reprog to 120 deg sweep
Clocked Axles front & rear
6lb even RTR - 50/50 weight distribution

Default 2nd installment

Finally with Mayhems and a finished body, more to come. Have a Bug almost ready and an S2000 in the wings.

Nice and low. The extra body holes make it a little lighter... They were there from a previous mount.

Of course!!!!... It's got a couple scratches on it already from the rocks I've been playing around on. No hard falls yet, but give me time...

Body looks cool slammed down that low, does the axle hit in the front at all?

It makes light contact at extreme flex, but that's why I have the body mounted on only 2 central posts so it moves very easily up to an inch each way. Seems to work pretty well on the rocks so far, but I may trim the sides up a bit more to avoid dragging them so much. It doesn't hang up enough to stop momentum due to the body rocking side to side so easily, but it does drag a bit and will eventually get torn up on the edges...

I like the LOW CG characteristic.

I even managed a little vaquish style weigting with Mayhems 7's, some 7/16" Rod, and a properly sized inside snap ring. I'll post photos soon... Gets me about 4oz added per front wheel. Might be able to get more with Tungsten or even just Lead slugs. I know I wont be using Platinum or Gold....

(but honey, I just need to melt your jewelry down for some wheel weights)... Right....

Mayhem 7's with 7/16" galvanized steel rod, cut to 1/2" length, painted, then inserted into the holes in the wheels...

On the back side, I used an inside snap ring to hold the slugs against the beadlock on the front side. This system seems to work just fine keeping the slugs in place and with no knuckle interference. This added about 3.5 ounces to each wheel with all 7 slugs in place.
